First let me say that I like Pac as a fighter and person but I have been visiting this site for a while now and I see a lot of criticism about Floyd in comparison to Pac and their respective choice of opponents. But I dont get it. Peolpe are implying that Pac can beat/or has a chanceto beat Floyd because how he looked against his last 3 opponents. I only say the last 3 because lets be honest here, no one thought he had a chance against floyd 2 years ago. Pac has fought diaz, dlh, and hatton. All 3 of these fighters were limited fighters and none of them were the true champ of his division( except hatton but 140 has been crap since cotto and floyd left). Pac has still not fought against a fighter like floyd( jmm comes close but i think floyd is at the very least 2x better than him.)
i guess my real question is what has Pac shown in the last 2 years to make people think that he has gotten so much better that he could beat floyd? Like I said i like Pac and root for him all the time but the peolple he has fought in the last couple years will not give him what he needs to beat floyd. If anything it may hurt him. What do you guys think?
Ok let me show why you are wrong. Fighting the best means exactly that "fighting the best". Now when you fight the best do you risk something? Yes.
But just cause your are taking a chance/risk doesnt mean you are fighting the best.
For example I am not a pro fighter but if I go out a decide to fight a pro with a record of like 10-2, I am taking a chance/risk but that dont mean im fighting the best. But that is exactly what pac has done. Moving up and fight diaz was a risk for him but was diaz the best? No , Casamayor or campbell was. He goes up a figt dlh at 147. Was it a risk ? Yes. Was Oscar anywhere close to the best? No. Im not even gonna get into ricky hatton.
But with that said I do like Pac a lot and Im not tryin to down him at all. Im just saying that he has been built up in the last year or so to be something that I dont think he is and no fighter he has foughtt in the last couple of years has shown that.
Talk about your hypocritical double standards.
Let's take Floyd's last 3 fights and put them through the same scrutiny.
Was Ricky Hatton the best available welterweight challenger for Floyd's WBC welterweight belt?? Hell no. Even after he won a title from Luis Collazo at Welterweight, Hatton was still not even top 5 welterweights.
Was Oscar delahoya the best 154lber when Floyd fought him?? Hell no he wasnt.
But Floyd is the best??? Man had never fought anyone that could be considered the best in the division in his entire career. the way Pacquiao has done consistently throughout his career.

- 1 of 2 to have 6 titles in 6 different divisions
- only person to have 4 lineal titles
- beat morales 3x
- beat jmm 2x
- beat mab 2x
- only person to KO morales
- only person to knockdown jmm 4x
- 1 of 2 to stop mab
- 1 of 2 to stop DLH
- 1 of 2 to stop Hatton
- beat DLH worst than Floyd
- KOed Hatton faster than Floyd
- fought from 106 lbs all the way to 147 (actually 142) lbs
I'm tired, but whatever...
Fighting the Best and Likely to beat Floyd are two different things. Fighting the "best" means taking chances/risks in getting the best fight out there. Pacquiao has certainly done this. In the past year and a half Pacquiao has beaten the second best pound for pound fighter in the world, moved up ten pounds to knock out a 140 champion (eh? whatever), moved up to 147 to knock out De La Hoya, and then knocked out the best 140 pound fighter in the world. Three of fights came against world class competition.
None of this means Pacquiao will beat Mayweather. Mayweather is a horrible matchup for Pacquiao.

You sir must not have been watching the sport for very long. 2 years ago Floyd was the #1 p4p while Manny was #2 p4p. The reason noone thought Manny would beat floyd 2 years ago was because of a ridiculous size difference. While Pacquiao-Barrera2 was happening at 130lbs. Mayweather-DLH was happening at 154lbs. Thats a 4 weight division difference. You tell me who has a chance beating someone who fights 4 divsions higher.
Over the past 2 years Manny has shown ability not just to adapt to the higher weight classes, but to do so in such dominating fashion.
As far as Manny not fighting the best. His career is as follows.
112lb flyweight world title against Sasakul (#1by ring magazine and linear champ)
122lb super bantamweight title against Ledwaba (#3 in the division by ring magazine)
126lb ring featherweight title against Barrera (#1 in the division, #3 p4p)
130lb world title against Marquez (#1 in the division, linear champ, #4 p4p)
135lb title against David Diaz (#5 by ring magazine.)
140lb world title against Ricky Hatton (#1 by ring magazine, #9 p4p)
If that shit aint fighting the best....i dont know what is.
Its humanly impossible to answer the question better than that.
I bet 2 years ago you couldnt find 5 people that would say floyd could beat B-hop either. They were fighting at different weights so what do you expect?
I see what you are trying to do but it wont work.
You never would hear about pbf fighting hopkins cause hopkins has never fought lower than 160. there would be no reason to ever bring that scenario up.
But floyd use to dominate 130. Which is the division manny was fighting in while floyd was # 1.
Now back then i heard many scenarios about what floyd would/could do to fighters at that weight during the time. (i.e. could floyd beat morales/barrera/jmm/pac). i remember many of those conversation but if you dont then its obvious you havent been following boxing long.

It's quite simple. Under the tutelage of Trainer Roach, the Pacman has acquired the full Mastery of the Sweet Science. His fluidity, speed, coordination, balance, footwork has been brought up to an unparalleled level. Can he beat Mayweather? Of course he can. Will he beat Floyd? I firmly believe it's inevitable.
After witnessing the manner in which the Pacman defeated his past opponents, there is no denying that he is at the pinnacle of his career. As great a boxer that Mayweather is to everyone, I don't think he will be as hard to defeat as people mention. It's completely safe to say that the Pacman will be the one to defeat the one and only Floyd Mayweather Jr. JAT
Now why did you start off your post like that? I have given Pac his respect. I said i liked him but because i dont see it like you then I have not been watching boxing long?
OK now from your list there what fighter is on the same skill level as floyd?
Answer= 0
Like I said the closes would be jmm. It looks like you havent been watching long because manny was #2 but that just wasnt cause he was smaller. It was because he was also because #1 was way better than him. When they were # 1 and 2 there was a big gap between them .
Why are you giving me his career. Im talking about his last three fights. You know the ones that brought him to this superstar level. Cause like i said earlier 2 years ago you couldnt find 5 peolple that would say he could beat floyd.
Marquez is a lot more aggressive & willing to mix it up than Floyd is. Styles make fights.

And shady didn't mention him not fighting zahir raheem once he deated morales. Or never fighting guzman. And when it come s to 135, jmm fought tougher comp than pacman!
The man had 1 fight in the division and skipped 2 whole divisions entirely earlier in his career. So Marquez has had 2 fights with better competition in a specific weight division. Besides those last 2 fights you tell me what are the other biggest wins of Marquez's career. Without those last 2 wins Marquez's resume has been mediocre at best and been piggybacking of Paquiao's reputation because of the difficulty he gave Pacquiao.
Raheem didn't even look impressive beating Morales, he looked boring. And please, he got knocked out in his next couple of fights. Raheem who? Is he the guy that is like a sergio mora of his weight class that gets one good win but sucks after that.
Raheem looked real impressive in beating Morales, although toward the end he started slipping all over the place. It was not until the Frietas fight that people lost respect for Raheem~.

You should have left off David Diaz, that was not fighting the best~, unless you consider Floyd fighting Gatti fighting the best.
