How anyone can score this fight for Hopkins is beyond me. I can't score rounds for fighters who throw 1 punch a round and are dirty cheaters. Hopkins leant in with his head after he threw every right hand going for headbutts, he also hit behind the head frequently (so did Calzaghe though), he intentionaly low blowed Calzaghe and he also faked many low blows which wern't low blows (which caused him to win a round on my card because he took a breather and got to throw more effective punches that round).
Debatable rounds:
Round 4 - I gave it to Calzaghe on workrate
Round 10 - I gave it to Hopkins (even though he cheated) he took a breather and managed to land the more effective punches after that.
I gave Hopkins a 10-8 round in the 1st round, i gave him the 2nd round 10-9 and i gave him round 10 at 10-9 even though he cheated.
Every other round was Calzaghes. Final score 116-111 Calzaghe. Not even close.
Yup, it was the worst fight in the entire world. A bad clash of styles, Hopkins clinching to slow down the workrate of Calzaghe. And I don't know, I think I only saw the fight one time and every so often check out highlights or clips of it but for the most part it was a shit fight. And both men had a hard time hitting each other cleanly. It's because their pretty good at avoiding punches... I don't know, shit fight.
If you think that fight was boring, you should see Hopkins' fight with RJJ, I think Larry Merchant aged 10 years during that fight.
I don't care to watch that fight again in order to rescore it. But a 1 point decision for either guy seemed fair to me when it happened. I thought the KD may have stolen it for Bhop, but I was wrong.
I know huh?!
Specially when Mister Boat Buyer is so damn entertaining himself.
:lmfao:
Dumb ass!
and, every floyd fight had more action than that piece of shit. No wonder y it didnt make ppv

lol hes entertaining enough to stay on your mind..... bitch
I remember seeing HBO's broadcast that had it for Joe by quite a bit...
I scored it 115-113 I think for Joe. Two of my favourites but I have only watched it twice, awful fight to watch.
how can you re-watch that boring ass fight?

sorry dude, ive seen this fight about 5 times and i completely disagree. calzaghe might have threw his little flurries, but they mean shit to me if every single punch misses. the truth is, for the first 8 rounds, calzaghe did VERY little, was knocked down, and was getting hit with cleaner punches throughout. i scored it for hopkins but i guess i could see how a fan gives it to calzaghe. just my opinion.
You must have been watching the wrong fight. I scored it unbiased, i like both fighters, you clearly don't like Calzaghe though. Fair enough you don't like his style, but it won him the fight clearly.

Here you go and you had the cheek to say Joe missed every single punch. % shows Hopkin is even lower than Joe % of punches landed. Your theory has failed.

Look up some stats on how many punches Joe landed against Jones and Hopkins. Hopkins missed loads of shots but does that mean shit to you??

you can see how everyone else gives it to calzaghe you mean?
He was clearly landing punches. His jab was landing constantly and he got in some flush left hands. Hopkins didn't even have a jab. Calzaghe just went in and out with little flurries, which wins you rounds over Hopkins who threw 1 right hand and clinched, most of those right hands didn't even land properly and were hit on the gloves of Calzaghe, i think the worst of the right hands were in the first 4 rounds. After that i don't see any big right hands from Hopkins apart from the one that wobbled Calzaghe later on, but the only reason he got that right hand in is because he head butted Calzaghe.

Calzaghe has it every time but not by much. It was a horrible fight though Calzaghe deserves a lot of credit for his commitment to winning.
One of Calzaghe's great assets is his ability to adapt to varying challenges during a fight and change his style.
I can't decide though whether he threw his gameplan out the window after the first Knockdown in this fight or he just knuckled down and remained faithfull to his original strategy?
I'm not sure, i think the gameplan was always to use the jab and outwork Hopkins with the little flurries. Calzaghe got caught cold in the first round with a silly mistake of rushing in.
Why are some only saying this now. Americans clutching on their straws. Calz boxed a good fight. Hopkins is a cheat.
Nice to see some actually coming out the closest and admitting this now.
I've scored it 3 or 4 times, at least. I have it 114-113 Calzaghe everytime, and I'm a fan of both guys...
It was a close fight, but I can't give it to Hopkins.
Completely agree with this, Joe didn't own the fight as much as is said he was, even the fans in the arena(strangely more brits than americans) was worried about the result.
