i mean manny pacquiao vs floyd myweather jr...
does a victory over the other really settles the question of who is greater?
look at hagler & hearns... both beat roberto duran, but manos de piedra is almost always ahead of these two (even sugar ray leonard) in any credible all-time list...
same with pryor & arguello...
what say you people?

it proves that one beat the other which is always good to know
Pac's resume is superior to Mayweather's. A fight would definatley settle who's style works against the other. I'm not sure how far it goes in terms of greatness. Obviously whoever beats the other man will go down as the better fighter as it does these days. However, i kind of disagree. Manny started at Flyweight and i believe his best times/wins are past him. Not to discredit Mayweathers win, if he wins, it's a good win, but Pac's much smaller. Also, his resume in the lower weights is damn impressive and deserves greatness on it's own.
I agree with the fab four thing, as in when time passes, you won't look at who beat who, but you will look at their acheivements excluding that. Single wins do not give you greatness.
@talip bin osman. IMHO during the time of Duran, hagler, hearns & SRL it was never mentioned that he was the greatest among the FAB Four and i think or just my opinion even considered as the least talented, he only won once (yeah thats a big one, only fighter to beat the PRIME Leonard) and lost to the other three ....
but after their careers was over and in hindsight, their accomplishments were weighed and it was hard to say that hagler, hearns or even SRL did better than roberto...
head to head he may not be better than the other three but his accomplishment outweights theirs...
You have to look at the way Calzaghe won... all those slap punches... and the way the fight went on.. and how everyone says Roy was old and how people still think hopkins beat calzaghe..
That is definitely not the same as floyd and pac fighting now.. When they are both near or completely in their primes..
ok lets leave calzaghe 4 the time being... lets just hav hagler/hearns over duran for example...
any credible list that hav these two great fighters ranking higher than duran?
i appreciate the input boss... but calzaghe like PBF was undefeated and beat both hopkins & jones... u think calzaghe is greater than both?

so u think the "0" of PBF would carry more weight than any criteria in any future all-time discussions between him & MP?
If Floyd beats manny... YEs.... If he never beats manny then no... Understand why I think that?
It wouldnt carry more weight, but would help when discussing who was greater.
If Pac beats Floyd, then theres no question, Pacquiao should be considered the greater fighter and vice versa.

bcoz im a little confused about some guys saying the winner of their hypothetical fight would decide whos greater....
where would you rank pacquiao if he hopped in a time machine and went back to defeat a prime tyson?
riddle me that.
Being that these two fighters legacy's are very close... the fact that Floyd IS undefeated... DOES mean a lot..
Yep this also plays a part, in determining who was a greater fighter out the two.
Of course not! :lol1:
wins are overrated these days.

not really.
if pac beats cotto or shane for a 147 belt.
i really don't think floyd could catch him legacy wise.
unless he beats pavlik at 160 for the 160 belt or something.
Yep, i agree with this.
But if Floyd beats Pac and goes on to beat a top WW, then Floyd should be recognised as a better fighter than Pac.
If Pac wins a belt at 147, i'd be surprised. I just cant see it happening.
Neither guy needs the other to be ATG. But Pac's res/legacy>Mr boat buyer's. If Mr boat buyer beats him, he may still not be remembered as the gr8er fighter career wise, tho he is the more skilled fighter.
