Marquez has already shown that. In his last fight with Pac, Manny came into the ring as a WW.
And MP has much more power than PBF
I personally still think Mayweather hits harder and is a more accurate puncher.
A well timed left hook by Floyd would likely get Marquez out of there. If Diaz could hurt Marquez with the left hook Mayweather can also and worse.
the way JMM was getting tagged by soft hitting Diaz shows how much of a dfensive master JMM isnt
smell the roses and come back to reality
floyd isn't going to swarm jmm like diaz did dickface
Mayweather should fight his fight if he expects to win this duel. Marquez got alot of flash knockdowns against Pacquiao but still took it the distance, so his heart is a big weapon. Thing is though, if Marquez gets drawn into a slow paced battle, his pride will kick in and will want to make it exciting. Thats when Mayweather should strike, the rest will be history.

Thanks man. :boxing:
What I'm worried for Floyd for is that he is 2 years rusty, yet he might want to make a statement fight to prove to everyone that the real p4p#1 is back. He would want to KO JMM in a quickness. Im not sayin he's not capable of that, he probably could do it but that plays right into what JMM does best. It should be an interesting fight.
This is a really tough fight for Floyd.
JMM is the #2 P4P fighter who seems to have increased in power in his last two fights. Casamayor and Baby Bull were never stopped previously. Marquez is a smart, experienced fighter. Manny Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of all time. If not for a couple of KD's, Marquez would have beat Manny twice.
So, Marquez is a great, great fighter who is giving up about five pounds or so. That is offset, as Juan says, by the two years of inactivity that Floyd brings. You can't just get off your sofa after two years and beat a HoF fighter. That is the stuff of legend. SRL-type stuff.
To accomplish this, PBF must ensure that he gets great sparring to bring his sharpness back. But where do you get sparring partners as smart and skilled as JMM? Floyd must be more aggressive and try to put some distance on the scorecards via a KD or two. JMM can be caught. But his heart is amazing.
Floyd must ensure that his stamina is first-rate. JMM hasn't tired.
To beat JMM, Floyd will have to ensure his defense is the difference. Offensively, they are about even.
Power - even
Speed - Floyd
Defense - Floyd
Offense - Marquez slight advantage
Intangibles - Marques (active, on a streak)
Training/Corner - Marquez
This is a pick 'em fight.

It's such a miss match it's not even funny. I think if JMM beats Mayweather, it could go down as one of the greatest upsets in the history of boxing.....seriously.
ummm no. JMM is p4p#2 and arguably one of the more skilled boxers of all-time. an upset isn't out of the question in this fight. JMM could figure out how to beat mayweather if he uses the right strategies throughout the fight.
Mayweather should make Marquez lead and come to him, Marquez for all his counterpunching skills isn't a great offensive fighter, he gets hit quite a bit when he gets offensive, like in the Jaca and Jandaeng fights, it also cost him his fights against Pacquiao and led to him getting hit more than he should have against Barrera. He's a great counterpuncher and great at timing opponents but offense is not his strong suit.
I think a potentially big weapon for Mayweather in this fight is his left hook, either off a feint or off a jab to the body, which would bring Marquez' right hand down if the Diaz fight is anything to go by, Marquez didn't know where that left hand would be going, Diaz stunned him with a left hook pretty badly, if Mayweather can do the same thing, he'd probably get Marquez out of there.

why would we, PBF isnt a pressure fighter. hes a defensive counter punch that mixes in the offensive and begins to pressure his fighters as he wears them down.
this is exactly what im talking about. alot of you have a fundamental misunderstanding of boxing, why PBF is so great and why JMM and PACman arent on his level
yeah but pbf will have to win spectacularly... he's the bigger guy.
if jmm makes it 12 there will be questions cause floyd is too big for jmm
He just needs to be patient like he usually is. JMM being a counterpuncher that would be hard to do. But since JMM has more to lose, imma go out on a limb and say he will feel the need to press the action. Ideally JMM would want Floyd to commit first, and Floyd being the bigger guy, he might be tempted to...Foyd needs to not fall for that. I think this the only way JMM has a chance to win....like I said, Floyd just needs to be patient, he got all the advantages, and he should win this.
I think the question really should be what does JMM have to do to beat PBF. Its obviously no secret that PBF is content running around playing tag with his contenders and picking up a decision win. JMM needs to keep his work rate up and make sure his legs are as fresh as PBF's for the entirity of the fight. PBF can pretty much fight his normal fight and still pick up a decision with relative ease.
mayweather uses a RIGHT HAND LEAD. its not a jab but functions like one and throws people off
Yep, and when he throws that lead right, he'll be countered with an overhand right and a left uppercut.
He's got to use a jab.
LOL @ Gallo's remark.
Floyd has to jab, jab and jab some more. Straight punches up the middle--Marquez is getting tagged a lot more as he gets older and I believe is on the downside. Diaz's speed troubled him...in fact, Diaz's power troubled him too. Once Floyd works out the kinks he's going to do a number on Marquez's grill.
I don't think it was Diaz's speed, so much as his work rate, and his constant pressure, that bothered Marquez. Also, his catching more punches in the last couple of years is largely due to his changeup in styles. He's being far more aggressive now than he used to be. Not to long ago, he was almost strictly a counterpunching ring technician. These days, he's pressuring nearly as much as he's laying back and waiting to counter. Makes for a much more exciting fight, nets him bigger paychecks, but part of the penalty for that is being much more open to getting caught.
I agree, though, that Mayweather has to use his jab like he never has. About the only thing that seems to shut Marquez down and keep him from countering as much is a stiff jab when it's doubled and trippled, and thrown with great frequency. If Floyd starts and finishes every combination with 2 or 3 quick, hard jabs, he could nullify about 75% of JMM's fight plan.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Floyd is simply the better fighter. With all due respect to Marquez, he's just not on Mayweather's level. No matter how deeply you analyze their individual traits, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the superior boxer.
I wouldn't say this is a pick em, but much harder than most people presume it will be. The main problems for floyd is that marquez hardly ever punches first, is extremely patient, and counters in numbers with speed, accuracy, and power. Floyd has a great defense but like any fighter the more aggressive he is the more vulnerable he makes himself. Saying this floyd is the faster, bigger, and younger fighter, and marquez reflexes have definitely slowed which is understandable.
I see floyd scoring with lead rights and lefts and getting himself back out of range more often than not its when he decides to throw combinations he will be most vulnerable against marquez and could be caught in exchanges.
Don't be surprised if mayweather is bothered by marquez's power, and I see floyd getting rocked in this fight and possibly tasting the canvas for the first time in his career (legit kd)
Ultimately this fight will end up more exciting than people think after a cagey start, but floyd's great stamina and all-round ability will rule the day and he wins by late tko in my opinion.
