Ok... but this thread isn't about a Pacquiao or a Marquez fight or whether or not Floyd is a bigger draw... it's about Floyd making 140. It was a yes or no answer.
and thats why I started off by saying yes and I picked yes
He can definatly make 140 but Floyd should say Hell No to it. Floyd is the bigger draw, has more options then Pac, and Roach just told all the other WW's to come to 144 but Floyd has to come to 140? He's not going to punk Flloyd like that when Floyd is undefeated and had more PPV buys against Oscar, Hatton, and JMM then Pac did. Why would Floyd do that? So what Pac can fight Cotto. Floyd can fight Shane and I bet he does more sales

But nobody asked all that...
just can he make 140... yes/no.
Come on Reed lets be right, we all know what it would have lead to... that's not a pun at the TS he wasn't starting anything but it was pretty certain that people would begin to talk shit.

I don't think so.
Just because he maintains his weight doesn't mean at this stage of his career he'll be able to drop 8lbs and not have it affect him. I don't believe Floyd walks around at 148lbs flat. I could be wrong, but if he didn't have any problems making weight you'd think he would take the Marquez at 140, but it is indeed a Welterweight fight.
Ricky called him out and wanted the lineal title at 147 which is what FLOYD had.
So you're saying Ricky has more balls than Mayweather?
Thats nothing new,
but it doesn't change the fact that Mayweather can't get down to 140.
And I answered........
Period...thats why he aint at 140 right now..he can make it...but it wouldnt be smart after a 2 year layoff and 5 years removed from weighing 140.
Simple.
He wasn't retired when he fought Hatton at 147.
Why didn't he go down then?
Your answer in advance,
"ricky called him out".
Ok, now that thats out of the way, why not take on Ricky at 140 and simultaneously hold not one, but
2 lineal world championships at the same time?
That would be pretty prestigious if you ask me and help make the claim as pound for pound best fighter in the sport.
Jose Luis Castillo was only 3 pounds over 135, but for whatever reason he couldn't make it.
Coralles was a few pounds over as well, but for some reason, couldn't make the weight,
Nate Campbell was a few pounds over, but for some reason, couldn't make the weight.
All three fighters looked thin enough, even though they were overweight.
Most people, when they reach their 30s, simply cannot get down to a desired weight.
Floyd is no different.
Read my answer........
Same reason he wanted Hatton at 147; because it is less of a strain for your body to dehydrate and then try to rehydrate for the fight. At 147, which he was coming in around 146-149 by fight-time, all he has to do is take a piss and then jump on the scales, then drink a cup of water. At 140, you have to sweat it off and maybe even start taking pills to piss out the fluid...then you have to drink drink drink or stick an I.V. in your arm to rehydrate.
What's the point if you aren't going to weigh 140 by fight-time?
It's better to just concentrate on the fight instead of the weight/scales.
The object is to be at your best and all that training can go down the tubes if you don't dehydrate and rehydrate properly for the fight.
Thanks guys, I was being sarcastic though, lol.
Yes, but then why does he want Marquez at 144?

Yes.
But after a 2 year layoff.........
It doesnt make sense to drop to a weight where you havent been in 5 years.for your FIRST fight back.
Obviously.
Why the defense already? It was a simple question.
