Surely everyone who saw the fight, know that Pac's fights with Oscar and Hatton were far more exciting and spectacular than Floyd's fights with the same opponents.
Now if you're a casual fan, and u saw all 4 fights, who's fights will u be purchasing again in the future? Pacman has a much more fan friendly style, and is humble. He has the respect of the fans, and has shown that he is willing to step up to the plate and take the risks to prove he is worthy of his pfp#1 status.
So my question is: Has Pac overshadowed Floyd? I personally think so. He's a worldwide phenom. He has nike endorsments, and has been listed in forbes magazine as top 100 most influential people in the world. His following and fanbase has risen dramatically over the past few yrs, and will continue to grow. I feel Floyd senses this, and this is why he picked the night of his fight with Hatton to announce his comeback fight. He basically tried to steal Pac and Hatton's thunder, but to no avail. Pac's demolishion of Hatton was too much to be outshined by Floyd's classless antics.
As much as Floyd's fanboys want to disagree, right now Floyd needs Pac more than Pac needs Floyd.
Pac is now the face of boxing and I thank God for that. Mayweather is unlikeable and the reason some of his fights sell is because a lot of people want to see him lose. The first time Floyd loses his career is over.

None of them NEED each other, but the fans WANT to see this fight happen.

Fair post and I can agree...
Im a huge fan of both, but obviously he has..hes TKO'd the icon DLH who Floyd took to a decision, and BRUTALLY ko'd Hatton to the point it looked like Hatton was dying in only two rounds, his fan base is huge, everywhere he goes hes got followers, shit,he even had a bigger ovation in Manchester, and if the rumours are true, and the PPV did do either 1.5 to 2 million buys, its proof in the pudding
Pac is a global phenom

Personally, IMHO, talk about whether Pacquiao is P4P #1 is amute at this point, talk should be whether or not Pacquiao is ATG. He's proven himself time and time over again, and not until he loses will certain people be happy. So much discredit and lack of respect before so many of his fights and yet he comes out on top time and time again with dominating performances. A man that puts that much work ethic in, and shows in each fights, deserves every accolade he gets.
As much as I rate Mayweather as one of the greatest of his generation, Pacquaio has now achieved more than him in the ring.
Marco Antonio Barrera twice, Erik Morales twice, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.
vs
Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo, Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.
I'm ranking in terms of what I consider to be great victories. A fight between them absolutely has to happen to decide who is greater. Right now, Pacquiao edges it.
i think corrales would have beaten MAb, Morales, JMM at 130 though. and castillo would beat them at 135. And u didn't even mention Genaro Hernandez who only lost to oscar and floyd ever!
pacman is a great figher now, but floyd has been great his whole career! In time manny won;t be looked at in the same way as Floyd unless he beats him!
That's his style though. He plays it safe and waits for his opponents to make mistakes in order for him to capitalize off of them. It doesnt make for a very exciting entertaining bout, but it works for him. You're right. Had Floyd adopted more of a killer instinct, he wouldnt get criticized as much for his bland style.
People simply don't understand that this is a gladiator sport, one in which the spectators expect to see some brutal and exciting action.
Floyd, as great as he is with all of his talent,
is just not eye catching due to always trying to play it safe and just get the win.
That bores people. The same way a 1-0 pitchers duel is incredibly exciting to baseball purists, its almost an insult to the people who came to see homeruns.

I disagree with the popularity. I think pac is about even in popularity right now. after the fight, so many ppl were talking about it on tv including on other sports shows like Inside the NBA. I didn't see nearly as much talk about the mayweather-dlh fight AFTER the fight.
Pac beat Hatton at his own weight. Floyd dragged Ricky up to 147, even though many of you claim Mayweather can easily get down to 140.
The DLH is even. Neither faced a decent version. DLH had been a part time fighter for years by the time Floyd faced him. Floyd outpointed him, Manny stopped him.
In both cases, Pac looked better in doing so. First by stopping DLH, then by beating Hatton at his own weight.
Pac looks better every time while Floyd stans get upset and angry that the world, not just the boxing community, is taking notice of Manny Pacquiao.
Exactly. Co-sign.

ok, i hear u. But in my opinion he was toying with him. He didn't turn it up and throws combos to like the 7th rd. When it comes to a gameplan, u right, there is none better. But these short attention spanned people can't appreciate that. I think he would get less criticized if he attacked and went for the kill quicker. But u right, he was setting hatton up at the beginning of the fight.

We know you don't like Mayweather...
Double standards....Mayweather's last two were against both of the SAME guys that Pac just beat. Floyd beat those guys and he gets ZERO credit. Pac comes and fights the SAME two guys AFTER FLOYD HAD FOUGHT THEM TWO WHOLE YEARS AGO, and Pac gets ALL the credit for beating them. Thats a double standard and you guys are wearing that record out!
But I know what you are going to say, "Pac DESTORYED THEM, Mayweather RAN!"..get outta here! They have two TOTALLY different styles in the ring, so PLEASE save that arugment. They both beat the SAME GUYS, so how is the latter (Pac) GREATER than the FORMER (Floyd) when the FORMER (Floyd) did it first? A win is a win right? So how can you all discredit Floyd when he beat these two guys, but praise Manny when he did the SAME thing?
And don't think that I dont like Pac because I do, I really do. But it just kills me how you guys that you are FANS OF THE SPORT, but HATE anything that has to do with one of the BEST in the sport, Floyd Mayweather.
They need EACH OTHER, to show who the best is.

Well I don't think he started throwing combos until late because he was softening Hatton up. Reminded me of Tito-Hopkins, another masterful display.

toying is what he did to to bruseles...not hatton. He didn't toy with hatton, he executed his gameplan.
It's like when a reporter asked roy jones - following his defeat of ruiz - if he knew it would be that easy. Jones looked at the reporter all confused and said, "you kidding? It wasn't easy at all." just because it looks effortless doesn't mean it was - huge difference between toying and executing.

he definitely toys with them. He carried oscar in that fight and then turned it up. He did the same thing against hatton and baldomir. He toys with them and takes them in deep waters and drown em. He did with zab too who by the way is southpaw and faster than pacman.

punch stats dont lie..he doubled in connects
By your logic, Floyd lost to Castillo in thier first fight since Castillo trumped Floyd in every punch stat category.
floyd doesn't 'toy' with anyone, he is all business in the ring, he even said it himself he only does what he has to in the ring to win, whether it looks good or not, he doesn't care what anyone thinks of it.

This is what really gets to me...
When Floyd brawls with Hatton for a few round 'He beat him at his own game'
when Pac exchanged punches with him and ko'd him 'pac brawled, he looked like a club fighter'
double standards
by the way its not directed at you imdazed, just some guys who sais pac looked like a club fighter.
Umm...ok. LOL.
Anyway, that's my point. You can ranta nd rave about that other part to whoever said it.
