Floyd is a so called "cherry picker" that fought
Carlos Baldomir @ 147
Oscar De La Hoya @ 154
Ricky Hatton @ 145
Manny Pacquiao is the so called modern day "Henry Armstrong" that fought
David Diaz @ 135
Oscar De La Hoya @ 145
Ricky Hatton @ 140
1. Baldomir posessed the WBC, IBA, & IBO Belts and was coming off beating Judah & was @ his natural weight
2. Oscar posessed the WBC light middle weight belt & was coming off beating mayorga & was @ his natural weight
3. Ricky Hatton Was Fighting for Floyd's Belt but was coming off beating Jose Luis Castillo & was NOT @ his natural weight
on the other hand
1. David Diaz posessed the WBC light weight title and was coming off beating Erik Morales who announced his retirement directly after the fight & was @ his natural weight
2. Oscar De La Hoya Posessed no belt and was coming off beating steve forbes @ 150 unimpressively & was NOT @ his natural weight
3. Ricky Hatton posessed the IBO light welterweight belt was coming off to beating Pauli Malignaggi & was Fighting @ his natural weight
You could argue that
Floyd Beating Baldomir>Manny beating Diaz
Floyd Beating Oscar>Manny beating Oscar
Manny Beating Hatton>Floyd Beating Hatton
In my opinion to be fair.. if you are going to call Floyd Mayweather Jr a cherry picker you have to call Manny Pacquiao a cherry picker as well
pacman is a great fighter with 3loses,mayweather is great fighter with 0 lose, pacman's offense vs mayweather's defense, offense win MVP defense win CHAMPIONSHIP....lol :boxing::boxing:
well pac man wins and PBF wins should both be the same Mayweather isnt galways going to detroy the fighter. He wears them out and uses his speed while pac-man comes out at ya
Bet all your points when the fight is made man. ALL of them against the equivalent of mine.
he wont do that Skills...if he does and loses the bet, we will NEVER see that screename again.
Another thing you forgot to mention is that manny stoped all 3 in brutal fashion, while Floyd didnt.
And the the only one out of those 3 that Floyd stoped, Manny stoped him 8 rounds faster!!!!!!!!
Manny>>>>>>>>Floyd
They are both great boxers imo!!! Floyd the master and Manny the monster!!!
U forget that hatton was unbeating at the time that floyd stopped him Also that Gayla Hoya was fighting at his natural weight against floyd and wasnt weight drained!!!
Floyd will beat JMM and then if manny is silly enough floyd will beat him too, be it boring or not floyd wins fights boxing is all about winning!!!
why? you're acting like Floyd and Pacquiao fight the same way. They couldn't be any more opposite. Floyd is a defensive fighter who breaks fighters down and dominates them late in fights. Pacquiao blitzes right through fighters.
both guys are great fighters, but pac's victories are much more impressive and emphatic. Pac always exceeds expectations.
The difference is if Pacquiao is ever in there with a guy who adapts (Marquez for example), he doesn't look so hot. But Floyd has adapted to every opponent he's been in with.
I appreciate Floyd's adaptability, but that doesn't trump devastating KOs.

1) you're skewing the comparison by only going back 3 fights
2) pac brutally stopped diaz, dlh, and hatton in 2. floyd outboxed baldomir, dlh, and KOed hatton in 10
3) if I'm judging these fights based on performance, I'd have to say pac's wins are better.
I like both fighters, but floyd fans needs to stop feeling inferior... both guys are great fighters and both guys acheivements should be recognized and not downplayed.

1. Floyd went from 130-154 undefeated. 5 weightclasses. He ran 130 & 135
2. He gave out boxing lessons from 130-140
3. If Marquez is a a stepping stone then he's fighting some1 afterwards...
1. cherry picked 140 and up. didnt fought the best. skipped out on kostya and hatton at 140. didnt fight margarito, mosley, or cotto at 147. How could he ran 135 when he only had 3 fights. didnt fight cassamayor nor freitas
2. robbing castillo was hardly a lesson. maybe against the bruseles and sosa and gatti type of fighter.
3. marquez is a stepping stone for any welterweights. collazo, cotto, mosley, berto, cintron, margarito, would all KO marquez in less than 5 rounds
The difference is, Pac not only destroyed his competition, he jumped right in while he was 130 before all that. He fought Diaz at 135 and then jumped 2 weight classes to fight Dela Hoya, then went back down to take the title away from the 140 champ and Ricky's best weight. All in devastating fashion and is still very humble about everything.
There you go.
the difference is manny was not the heavy favorite against all 3 like floyd was.
most people had floyd winning all 3 fights they way he did.
with manny , people thought oscar was gonna kill him. he was favored against diaz and ricky but it wasn't so clear cut. there was questions about whether manny can beat those guys from some because of the size difference and it being manny's first fight in those divisions. manny also won those fights easier than most expected.
by the time floyd fought baldomir he's already had several fights at 147 and with floyd fighting ricky , it was ricky who was moving up in weight and challenging floyd.
manny was at 130 barely over a year ago. diaz at 135 , oscar at 147 and ricky at 140 was his first ever fights in those divisions.
when floyd challenged for a belt at 135 he had already a lot of fights above 130. when he fought for his 140 and 147 belts he had several tuneups first at that weight so most people already knew how effective he was at the weight.
great post :fing02:
Pacquiao has recently just moved up and is calling out all the big names.
Heh for the most part I don't think Pacquiao is really calling anybody out, but everyone wants a piece of him for the money they could make against him.

Pacquiao
1. had been fighting 90% of his fights at or below 130 lbs
2. he fought at 4 different weight class the last 4 fights
3. he completely destroyed his last 3 opponents
4. he does not want to duck true WW and is looking to fight Cotto or Mosley
Mayweather
1. wants to fight at WW with Marquez
2. says that his fight with Marquez is NOT a tuneup fight but would not want to fight a true WW
if one is a TRUE boxing fan willing to look past a boxer's race or color, im pretty sure he would look at pacquiao as a fighter who takes risk big time

3. If Marquez is a a stepping stone then he's fighting some1 afterwards...
how about this:
Sugar Ray Robinson: 19 loss
Mayweather: 0
WOW, Mayweather = GOAT
whats crazy is that 16 of his 19 losses came WAY after his prime when he shouldnt have been anywhere near a ring
