Since I believe he won both the Pacquiao fights I see him as the number 1, also I believe his wins over Casamayor and Diaz are more credible than Pacman's last 3 wins.
Marquez beat Pacquiao twice, and his wins over Juan Diaz and Casamayor are superior to Pacquiao's wins over Floyd's destroyed leftovers.
Floyd will have a tough time over Pac's 4 time canvass kissing leftover :D
Packy hasnt improved "exponentially" ... he's just been fighting basic fighters. If you think old drained Oscar, David Diaz and Ricky Hatton are harder than Casa and Juan Diaz you dont know boxing well enough.
When Packy fights world class opposition he either loses or goes life and death.
nobody considered those fighters to be like that until Manny beat them nobody said an old Oscar beat Steve Forbes or a shot Ricky Hatton beat Malignaggi and David Diaz only lost twice once to Manny and the other to Holt

Casa is leftovers from Freitas, Castillo, and Corrales. Diaz is leftover from Campbell.

seriously in the 2 fights they have been in Manny knocked Marquez down four times their first fight after the first round it was a close fight which means Manny won because of his three knockdowns in one round which meant the only way Marquez won that fight was if he won 8 rounds which didn't happen
If Pac fought J.Diaz or old Casamayor, he would've end it in less than 7 rounds via TKO or KO...J.Diaz is aggressive fighter & we all know wat happens when u try to bully Pac while old Casamayor is already shot & we all know where shot fighters ended up after fighting Pac

Pac 3 dominating performances over 3 bigger men.
Marquez 2 KO wins but not dominating over to men. Marquez had trouble with both fighters remember that, but as an elite fighter he adjusted.
Pac on the other 3 perfect fights unblemished and clear shutouts.
Seriously Marquez has been riding his close fights with Pacquiao way to long and people give him WAAAY to much credit. Sure it was close but again his fights after that werent dominating.
Damn a third fight needs to happen so we can end this debate. For sure Pacquiao KO's Marquez leaving no doubts in anyones mind, but too bad Mayweather is gonna do it first.
And When Marquez Beats Mayweather up he will seal his Ranking as #1 pound 4 Pound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey senior Cleto, The guy in your avatar is wearing Casnovas. The best Mexican gloves ever made
You just can't impress people who don't want to be impressed. There are people who said that a Pacquiao win over Hatton would legitimize his claim for #1 p4p. I guess there are still some who aren't giving in.
LOL at that fool discrediting Morales,Barrera, DelaHoya and Hatton saying that they have no defense.
Thhen he big ups an old Casamayor, a fat Juan Diaz and Katsidis...
WOW!
Consider yourself in the extreme minority, Dapeedreean. Trying to discredit Pacquiao's recent win by considering Hatton far below Diaz is an insult to Hatton.
Also, Pacquiao has improved exponentially by developing knockout power in both hands. He's no longer a one dimensional fighter with a predictable arsenal of two right jabs and one left punch to the head.
I could say the same about Pacquiao's stoppages of Barrera and Morales. Casamayor only became popular lately after stopping Katsidis. Neither him nor Katsidis are considered top fighters today.
They weren't sitting ducks with no defense, no hand speed, head movement.
Marquez stopped 2 guys that have never been stoppeed in Diaz and Casamayor. DLH and Hatton were defenseless

Juan Diaz is fat and got beat by an old nate Campbell.
Casamayor is old and he got beat by Santa Cruz...the same Santa Cruzwho got KOed by David Diaz.
I feel the same a veteran Casamayor who just KOed prime katsidis and a prime Diaz who is tough for anyone
LOL That old Casamayor got beat by Santa Cruz who got KO'ed by David Diaz...David '" he was just too f*ckin fast" ' Diaz.
OP is dead wrong. Pacquiao is still #1 for the following three reasons.
1) Even if you side with Marquez, it was not a decisive win on his behalf. Both fights were too close to say that Marquez deserved to win. This alone doesn't make Marquez #1.
2) The Pacquiao that fought Marquez is definitely not the Pacquiao of today. He has improved exponentially.
3) Pacquiao's accomplishments exceed those of Marquez by FAR. While Pacquiao destroyed heavier fighters like Oscar and Ricky, Marquez barely won against Barrera.
Sorry, but Pacquiao's destruction of Hatton in two rounds is more impressive than Marquez's wins against Casamyor and Diaz. The boxing world was shocked on Saturday night.

No, the point of p4p is to be able to match fighters from different weight classes. Upsize Calderon to the size of Pacman and he takes Pacman to school 10 times out of 10.
Fair enough then. That is a completely different way of approaching p4p. Rating on that basis is pretty fkn complex if you ask me.
Your point is only defensible if you are pretty much giving skill level at 100% weighting. Which, IMO, would be wrong. He may be p4p the most skillful boxer in the world, but there is more to rating fighters than just pure skill levels.

Thats impossible when the clear #1 p4p fighter in the world is the Iron Boy, Ivan Calderon.
