Taylor wasted his career. So much talent, but he failed to fulfill his potential. It's such a shame because the whole 168 division is ripe for the taking by any elite athlete. Maybe Andre Dirrell will do what Taylor should have done.
Over? Oh, hell no. He was ahead on my cards by 3 rounds at the time of the stoppage. He's got plenty of heart, he just has conditioning troubles that hurts him badly late. Some guys have to work 10 times as hard to reach the same level of conditioning as others, and I think he's one of them. And he may never be able to be highly active for 12 rounds, but I think he could improve somewhat, maybe enough to allow him to coast a little every 3rd round or so and not be so badly gassed by the championship rounds. If he'd had a smidge more gas in his tank, he'd have won an easy decision over Froch, in my opinion.
You fellows need to realize that the capacity for world class conditioning, just like big punching power, is a talent you're either born with or you aren't. Unfortunately, Taylor, for all his other talents and skills, missed out on that one. He can still get with throwing distance of that conditioning level, but he won't ever reach it, in my opinion. So he needs to make up for it with (among other things) ring smarts, and also (Please, GOD) learning how to close the show when he gets someone hurt in early rounds.
He'll come back. People are acting like he got dominated by Froch, he was winning the fight and got KO'ed in the 12th round, that's all. If anyone got dominated, it was Froch.
Did you even see the fight? Taylor was badly beat down at the end.... this is the second time that's happened.
Methinks so..its a shame, I like him. I'm not sure what his problem is...I think a combination of being technically flawed and lack of conditioning.
However, for some reason all of America's young top middleweights/supermiddleweight prospects have been duds....Jaidon Codrington, him, Kelly Pavlik, Allan Green, Lacy.... I hope the untested fighters like Jacobs and Ward, Joe Greene too can surpass these guys.
