2009 Miranda invites Froch!
All expenses paid
Speaking from his training camp in Puerto Rico, Edison ‘Pantera’ Miranda sent a personal invitation to Carl Froch, the WBC super middleweight champion, to sit ringside at his upcoming fight against Andre Ward. “Carl - congratulations on a great win last weekend. You showed that you are a warrior and a true champion. With your win on Showtime, you have gained much respect from the fans in the America. Now, I invite you to revisit the US and sit ringside as I take on Andre Ward, the highest ranked fighter in the WBC. I will fly you over here and arrange for your hotel and ringside seat. I hope you accept my offer, and please don’t make any excuses!” Edison Miranda will take on undefeated Andre Ward, America’s last Olympic gold medalist boxer, on May 16th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA. Showtime will televise the event at 9PM ET. Miranda, who recently fought at York Hall in England, had this to say as well.
“I have visited your beautiful country this past month and the great fans in England and throughout Europe know me very well. Although Andre Ward is a very skilled fighter, I am not looking past him, but I am confident I will win and prove to the world that 2009 will be my year. You and I are very much alike in and out of the ring. There is no doubt we would give the world a very entertaining battle as well as a very exciting build up beforehand. So, please take my offer and come to the fight. You, as well as everyone in boxing, know that the right thing for Carl Froch to do is to fight the winner of Miranda-Ward. And that will be me!”
miranda destroy froch
Miranda isn't destroying anyone because he probably was one of the most limited overrated fighters at 168. Oh no, watch out for his right hand!!! Don't bother with avoided his left since he has no pop in his left. He might paw his opponent to death with his left though, instead of using it as a jab or left hooks.

Froch was smart to not waste the trip.
Oakland in the East and West ain't the best places. Jus cuz we gotta bad cycle of crime wit bad education to boot so it just keeps goin on. We use to have a good program in Your Black Muslim Bakery but that turned into some street stuff so for the thug on the street? Not a lot to turn to ya kno? Anyway Dre Ward by KO-10, he's just too quick for Miranda.
It should be alright. The Coliseum and Oracle Arena are sort of isolated from other areas. The worst thing to worry about there are drunk violent Raider fans at one of their games.
I'm only semi-familiar with the Town...I know the most notorious sections are a few miles east of the Coliseum, called "the Killing Fields" of East Oakland. My friend used to live near the Coliseum, he said it wasn't too bad. I don't think he ever had anything happen to him or his property.
I've been to Oracle numerous times....no problems at all.
Cool man. Thanks. Ill be sure to keep away from any area called 'Killing' anything! Looking forward to this fight. It gonna tell a lot about these two guys.
What about near the arena (I believe that is near the airport, no?)

The Oakland hills are nice.
There's nice parts and bad parts like any city.
Overall though it's long been notorious for its crime.

I was at Miranda's fight at York hall and whilst excited to see him before the fight, he didn't look good. he seemed bloated and just went through the motions I hope he still has title level ambitions and maybe the last fight was a consequence of doing just enough; biding his time for a more meaningful fight.
I agree with you. 176lbs was too heavy for him. But lets not discount Joey Vegas. He is a very good defensive fighter with a great chin. He is not a guy anyone would just walk right through. Hopefully at 168lbs he will have more speed and aggression.

Is this fight taking place at 168 or 175?
I'm hoping Miranda pulls through. He has done better against boxers than he has against punchers, so he will definitely test Ward's chin. I just wonder how much Miranda has left in him. Pavlik and Abraham no doubt stripped away much of his confidence and his chin seems vulnerable now.
168lbs... that's where Pantera is looking for the big fights.
I'm not talking about robbed by the judges.
I'm talking about Froch being robbed literally...just making a crack about Cokeland.
AHhh, gotcha. I didnt realize Oakland was so bad.
Is the stadium in a bad area?
Not going the distance... When Ward is laying on the canvas it's gonna be hard to steal the show from Pantera.

ya this guy Ward, hes only an OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST!
he surley doesnt stand a chance against Miranda!:rolleyes:
edit- Pantera vs. froch would be a bombfest! i rather see bhop vs froch tho.
Gold medalist in OLYMPIC TAG!
Gold medals don't mean anything anymore.
The only way for Ward to survive is run around for 12 rounds, and even then one good shot and he loses.
