By that i mean a ridicuously popular fighter who broke box office records and brought boxing into the mainstream...but in there biggest fights fail to get the job done..discuss
Vargas, Whitaker, Quartey, Hernandez, & Chavez fights would disagree.
The Sweet pea fight was a tough one, but the chavez fights were paydays, and personally I still dont think he beat Ike
what you talking bout?Oscar lost 2 a prime sugar shane prime tito a beast in hopkins and 2 1.p4p fighters. Ricky wouldnt even last against a prime tito or a prime shane or hopkins and yet oscar managed to be right there with them
i THINK WHAT HE WAS TRYNA SAY IS THAT OSCAR LOST BOUTS THAT HE SHOULD HAVE WON( XCEPT HOPKINS) In the late rounds against tito and shane he didnt go after it and take it and as a result he took the 1st too loses of his career
He loses now and that's only 2 losses, and to guys who were the best in the world at the time. He wouldn't be seen as nearly as big a choke artist as DLH imo.
still though Manny and Floyd are hands down 2 of the better fighters Manny's fought in his career.
IMO Saturday's fight vs Pacquiao is very huge for Ricky's legacy .. yes a loss would only be #2 on Hatton, but still a pretty big hit to go 0-2 vs the #1 Pound For Pound Fighters in the sport.

yes. ricky's only really fought 3 elite fighters... floyd, jlc and tszyu and tszyu was semi-retired and jlc was shot.
I like hatton but Oscar is defiantly superior. Prime DLH was a force and not many would be able to live with him IMO, he was an elite fighter in his time. However if Hatton does beat Pac i think he has a good legacy as a fighter.
Couple that with the fact that Hatton only sold what was it 800K against Mayweather, and we all know how much Oscar sold against him.
ummm this statment is pretty dumb considering that 800k was in another country ! lets see oscar sell 800k in the uk !
hatton did a mill in england at 4am !
england is less than 1/4th the size of usa population wise
ermmmm...
oscar > ricky...
With all due respect to hatton, he's not on ODLH's level in terms of legacy.

As much i dislike Oscar, i still respect what he's done for boxing, and not to mention the many belts his won in multiple divisions!!!!
Ricky cant even come close..........sorry, i like the guy, but its not close at all

he can't even come close to being remembered as oscar!
If you actually read the original post, he doesn't mean he will be remembered as Oscar's equal legacy wise, just a popular fighter who failed in their biggest fights.

HBO sales doesn't = total sales.
