His guys have been saying that he needs to get his mandatory out of the way first, and thats why he's fighting a no name. F.uck the mandatory, let him have the....what does he have the WBA?... let him have the WBA. Why do you need it, when you can gain the WBC belt off Froch. Malignaggi dropped the IBF to fight Hatton because of Mandatory obligations. Margarito dropped the IBF to fight Cotto because of Mandatory obligations. Clottey dropped the IBF to fight Cotto because of Mandatory obligations. Bradley just dropped the WBC because of Mandatory obligations. Hatton dropped the IBF to fight Castillo because of Mandatory obligations. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, PEOPLE KNOW YOU ARE A WORLD CHAMPION, BELTS DON'T MEAN SHIT, SORT YOUR PROMOTERS OUT, SHITS GETTING SERIOUS, ITS BEEN NEARLY 2 YEARS SINCE CAL AND I'VE ACHIEVED MORE IN BOXING THAN YOU.

If I were Kessler's trainer I'd be very worried about the standard of opponent he's faced post-Calzaghe. I mean, if he has plans to unify or create a unchallangeable legacy he should be fighting top quality boxers to maintain focus. The problem in fighting second-tier guys is picking up second-tier habits and taking them with you when you return to fighting the premier boxers. I'd pick the Kessler that fought Calzaghe to beat Froch. But after fighting in the wilderness this long I've no idea what state he's in. For many fighters "prime" is fleeting. Spending two years away from the premier league just when you've reached it is madness.

I dont understand why he doesnt take bigger fights on now...he took on calzaghe the biggest fight he could of at SMW...He lost his 0 on his resume....all he can gain from now is respect....but hes making it even harder for himself! Im sure he would beat Froch....drop the belt and fight for the better one!

I think this court thing is destroying him and it sux. He hasint updated anything on his website for ages...I mean he could at least holla at his fans here and there and say hey guys sorry about all this shit but when im back im looking at fighting top guys or whatever ya know? He must be depressed about all this as he was posting news all the time. Its a real shame...im such a big Mogens Palle fan right now. Its sad to say but I think Kessler fans will be happy when the old bugger drops dead...hopefully soon too!

I agree, Kessler's potential is not being realized. Btw, has he stated when he would like to retire? I would hate for him to decide to hang them up in a couple years after not achieving much post Calzaghe...

The thing that bothers me about Kessler is that he's beating his mandatories handily and is only fighting on average two times a year. Why can't he fight 2-4 months after beating his mandatory? It's not like he needs time to recover but he's winning so easily. Fighting 3 times in one year wouldn't kill him... He was in excellent shape after Sartison and wanted a fight again quick. He had this mandatory against Haussler but negotiations dragged on forever so he had a longer break than he wanted. Same after Haussler. He was in great shape looking for fights but for various reasons nothing materialized. Next time he fights it will be nearly a year since he was in the ring last time. What a waste of a prime. What a shame.

I'm in agreement with all you guys. Kessler could and should beat everybody at 168. Problem is, he won't. This legal battle with his management is not doing him any favours, and for people to rate him so highly after doing nothing since the Calzaghe LOSS is ludicrous. If he doesn't have a meaningful fight in his next 2, i think i will give up on him. The Sturm comparison might just well be a reality. Kessler V Bute/Froch/Andrade 2/Balzay should be on his radar.

Iv been supporting Kessler ever since he destroyed Mundine.. but if this fight doesn't happen and Kessler is to blame I am giving up on hes career.. He should be fighting the best at SMW by now.. hes got the skills and ability to be able to beat almost every guy in the division.. and hes at the age where all he should be worrying about is big name fights rather then all these mandatorys he seems to get.

I think his hands are tied. I like Froch (you can't not), but to be fair, if you were a top 5 168 pounder you'd be all over a fight with him, he is beatable and he has the most prestigious belt.

Kessler will demolish the game but limited froch. I think he would, but it wont happen unless he fights him, he cant "imagine" the win on his record.
