I believe after his forced vacations and if clear to fight again, his body would be more than healed and ready to go to war once again. Izzy's 3 battle with rafa are no excuse for future performances. What do you guys think???

Sometimes it doesn't matter how long a fighters rests, those fights were brutal, the type of fights where both fighters may never be the same again no matter how long they have been off.

There has been a LOT of fighters (many mexicans) who were retired/shot/way past it by age 30. The tradition of turning pro at 16 and the fighting style don't help. Izzy has been in plenty of wars. So yes, if he is shot he is shot, it's not making excuses.

Another example would be Erik Morales, who had so many wars already and was just at his early 30's.

Lopez fighting Vasquez would be a no win situation. If he wins, he beat a shot Vasquez who fought 3 wars with Marquez among other fights. And if he loses he was exposed by a great fighter already past prime. I agree, even though lopez seems to have the ability to be a great fighter.

some guys defy all logic and come out of all these wars totally unscathed. other guys, one grueling fight and they're never the same. it's hard to imagine israel being the same after those 3 marquez fights, but who knows?

those fights with rafa took a lot out of him. if he returns it won't be the same izzy. he'll probably become a gatekeeper-type fighter
