Magarito, Cotto.. would he have still won

If margarito would have won, it wouldn't have been stoppage but a decision. I don't think so, even with Cottos fairly bad gameplan he still looked to be outboxing Margarito until the plaster started probably hardening in the later rounds. No question Margarito did land some good body shots, but who knows if he was wearing plaster. Only way we will ever know is to have a rematch but that doesn't look like that is gonna happen for awhile. Until next time its KO2you :boxing:

Margarito never had substance in his wraps for the Cotto fight. Dont be stupid. He was proven to attempting to use "substance" in the Mosley fight. Not Cotto. he did not get caught. Cotto swollen face was impressive and Mosley hit him harder

Margarito also said he didn't know his trainer was wrapping his hands like that, so who knows how long he has been using plaster. But I think he just said that to put all the blame on his trainer... Kind of disgusting if you ask me. no doubt...after he took out Cotto i jumped on the Margarito bandwagon...but since i found out about him using plaster...damn, it really made me think twice about him. Still though, i hope this was a one time thing against Mosley...but i doubt it =/

I think its obvious Marg has plaster..cmon guys he used plaster against an old mosley...but he didnt against cotto..the biggest fight of his career.I dont see how marg's fans are so delusional about this topic..They just didnt catch them in the cotto fight..c'mon guys wake up..

IF Margarito used plaster against Cotto, the answer is pretty obvious that Cotto would have won... He was about 4 minutes away from the final bell, and he wouldn't have been beaten to shit for rounds before that. Pretty obvious Cotto wins IF Margarito did use plaster in that fight. I think Margarito probably did use plaster in that fight, but... this is the same stupid, ****ing argument everyone has been having with no chance of resolution.

At this point as much as it hurts to say it.. I think Margarito has to be considered the legitimate winner until proven otherwise.. A rematch would solve a lot of this.. Of course with Antonio's hand wraps under close inspection

One could easily assume Margarito being the #1 Weltwerweight in the World didn't need to use them against a presumed "Over the Hill" Shane Mosley, but he indeed was caught prior to the fight. If he was going to use them against someone who many believed he would beat, what would make someone assume that he wouldn't use them in his biggest fight against the #1 Welterweight at the time? For instance, if a person is selling narcotics and is randomly caught, would your everyday judgement tell you he was selling narcotics prior to being caught? Yeah but we cant accuse for using it before either. Like your example. He was caught that time but he wont be charged as a drug lord(someone that detectives know, for a fact, have sold drugs numerous times). Since the law says innocent till proven guilty. We cant legitimately say that he used plaster before this incident.

Tough to say Cotto was very accurate with his punches and landed very hard shots that possibly could've knocked out any other welterweight at that time. But to Margarito's credit, he has a chin made of granite. I do think that Cotto was trying a bit too hard to KO Margarito instead of trying to control the pace of the fight. He took some tough shots from Margarito but still seem to be in the fight. If you add the Plaster of Paris scandal to the mix, it adds an entirely different scenario being that if Margarito did use them, it shows Cotto's heart beyond a shadow of a doubt for taking such brutal shots while still being able to land flush shots on Margarito. It's a scar on Boxing we may never have full closure on unless someone spills the beans. The question at hand is if Margarito didn't use Plaster, would Cotto have taken those shots much better and possibly have gone to win a decision victory? That is officially the question of the century.
