I wouldn't consider Hopkins or Jones as a part of the same era as Pacquiao. But if they were I would have Hopkins still ahead of Manny. What Hopkins is doing right now is almost unbelievable. He's been the underdog in his last several fights against Tarver, Wright, and Pavlik. There are few fighters in the history of our sport that have been able to do what Hopkins is doing at the championship level. Hopkins is far from his physical prime but can still outclass many of the top fighters.
Yes Pacman will be the best fighter of this era after he dismantles hatton!!! Although Hopkins is a very very close second or its more like Pac 1A and Hop 1B i got shitload of respect for both!!!
I still haven't got paid. The person's name is BHON something like that...I had a feeling he wasn't the type to pay back
:nonono: ...that sucks keep us updated
Trinidad
Oscar De la Hoya
Tarver
Wright
Pavlik
Eastman
Joppy
Johnson
trinidad delahoya and wright were much smaller than him. you have to take that into consideration.
LOL............. Okay whatever.
I combined them to show you half the guys theyve fought. Thats half of their resume.
You must be crazy if you think wins over Mitchell, Eubank etc cement him a place in the best of this era list.
He's fought two hall of famers in Hopkins and Roy Jones. The Hopkins win was very very very close and its fair to say that Roy was shot when Joe beat him.
I'm not hating but this is the truth, Roy wasnt the Roy of the 1990's and Hopkins was 42 when Joe beat him.
Hopkins was 43, a good 43 year old as well, but Calzaghe didn't do enough to take his belt. He could have at least given him a rematch.
Jones was shot to pieces, he had been knocked out by the likes of Tarver, Johnson etc, nobody thought he stood a chance against Calzaghe at this stage. The fact that he knocked him down makes it even funnier.
Calzaghe beating Hopkins was a good win however, even if it was close either guy winning would have been fine. I just wish Calzaghe wasn't such a coward and offered rematches. He never struck me as a champion who actually wanted to prove himself.
Because Taylor beat a better version of Hopkins and did it more so convincingly, it sorta takes off Calzaghe's supposed "uber" status. The fact that Jones was knocked spark out 2 times completely negates his competative 12 round decision over Jones.
His resume doesn't come close to Pacquiao, not even a hair. Pacquiao jumped multiple weight classes and grabbed titles, fought the mexican Trio and beat them. 2 of them were in direct primes, Morales being somewhat past it.
Then there are his equivalents of Eubanks and Rieds, such as Valezquez, Ledwaba, Solis...I guess a dehydrated De La Hoya. Now he's taking on the no.1 fighter at 140 lbs..and is the betting favorite.
His tune up was David Diaz, the lw champ...
cuz he beat up odh like he never been beatin like that before!!!
That's because of the circumstances of where Oscar was in that point in time in his career.
You need to stop looking just on the surface.
Maybe we should boost up the two fighters that knocked Pac out early. After all, they beat Pac like nobody has beaten him before.
Nah Hopkins still would have a better Resume, greater longevity and he unified the titles.
Hopkins wouldn't and doesn't have a better resume, even now. He's my 2nd favorite fighter as well.
Sorry man, B-Hop is the greatest fighter of our era and if Pacquaio were to beat Hatton, B-Hop would still be the best
vaya!! papa..!!
u should give me at least 25 K!
I just earn you 150K :boxing:
you keep saying this but you're wrong. Also you combined their resumes/opponents. Alone they're not that great that they're set apart.

Thats because you dont know the guys they've faced.
Ive posted their opponents above.
Have a read and educate yourself.

not by themselves, but if you add RJJ, Hopkin, Kessler and others to the list.
Ultimately there's nothing much impressive about Hopkin and Mayweather's resume which sets them apart from Calzaghe.

Those are not wins which determine the greatest fighters of the last era.

In your opinion. I don't see anything spectacular about Hopkin's or Floyd's resume compared to Calzaghe.
Then you clearly don't follow much boxing, sir.
