I assume Lopez's stock went up last night in the minds of most people, but... I'd like to hear what people think about this matchup.
With Marquez and Vazquez taking so much time off and probably being pretty close to being damaged goods with how much they took out of one another, Caballero and Lopez probably can be considered the best two in the division.
So how do people see this fight playing out?
Caballero is indeed awkward but after juanma figures him out, he will punish him with aggression. It will be a close fight though I think. Caballero has skills but so does Juanma
We haven't seen Juanma take a good shot right on the chops yet. If he can beat Cab then he is the real deal.
Penalosa clearly doesn't have the power at 122, but he did take everything without any trouble last night.
He also took more than a few good shots from Cuauhtemoc Vargas back when he fought on Shobox, but I'm not exactly sure what kind of power Vargas brought to the table.
But, you are 100% right, the biggest question mark is still the chin.
You're right about that. Damn dude, you're a really good poster. Where the hell have you been around here? lol
Haha, I have almost 15,000 posts 2 years.
I started watching boxing in 2007 (the first card I watched on live TV was Diaz vs. Chavez/Dawson vs. Adamek).
I started out as a 100% Floyd boy, and then realized there were better things in the sport.
The thing that has impressed me about boxing is that the more I watch, the more I answer questions with more questions.
I started out thinking I knew everything, but now, I just want to learn as much as I can about the sport (which is why I constantly consult Silencers on pretty much every topic that comes into my head).
What can I say? I just love this sport.
Out of those poonsawat WIll last the distance, Dunne and Cordova gets KTFO by Juanma, Gonzales would be a very tough fight fo Juanma and I havent seen Nishioka!!!!!!!

It's pretty packed, although I don't know a lot about most of the players there...
How do you think he would do against:
Poonsawat
Cordoba (although he just lost, he was ahead on points)
Dunne
Jhonny Gonzalez
Toshiaki Nishioka (the WBC champ that Gonzalez is fighting in about a month)
?
I think he'd outbox Kratingdaenggym and win a decision or knock him out late.
I think he'd knock Cordoba out, Cordoba is a rangy guy but his defense isn't the best and him being a southpaw opens himself up to Lopez' right hook, which is Lopez' best punch.
Dunne would get knocked out, his defense isn't good, his chin is suspect and he has an annoying habit of taking pictures of his work as Teddy Atlas likes to say, he'd punch and then take a step back, drop his hands and reset. Lopez knocks him out in 2 or 3.
Jhonny Gonzalez could be the toughest fight out of the group because he's tall, rangy, pretty fast and has good pop, he's also a pretty well skilled fighter. He has an annoying habit of not tucking his elbows in sometimes though and that opens him up to body shots so I believe Lopez would ultimately knock him out late as well or win a decision, he could lose a few rounds early though. Gonzalez normally starts pretty well.
Nishioka is a southpaw, and from what I've seen has pretty fast hands, decent power, doesn't use his jab much at all, he uses the right hand as a range finder for the left. Gonzalez should beat him when they fight and Juanma would beat him too.
I honestly think Jhonny could give him his toughest test to date.
Gonzalez is a really special fighter, but...
The only chance he has is if he can KO Lopez, because there is no way his anti-durable ass goes 12 with such a hard puncher.
His downfall is his inability to take punishment.
It is, and in a way you're right but us as boxing fans(at least the good ones) know when a guy has been outclassed or not. Think Cotto vs Gomez type of fight.
That's an execution...
The word outclass came to my mind during the early rounds of Froch-Taylor, and it wasn't as bad as Cotto-Gomez.
Now, think about how you two already have preconceived notions about this subject, and a rooting interest...
I seriously doubt you two come to a conclusion unless it's a draw or a Calzaghe-Lacy style beatdown.
I believe that Lopez would beat everyone at 122 now, Caballero included. The man is a machine.

Ding! Ding! Ding!!!
If Cab isn't anything special then why does he have 2 belts?
He's clearly better than being given credit for, but...
He did fight a battle worn Somsak whateverhislastname is... who hasn't won a significant bout since the Caballero loss.
He also got a protected Molitor in a unification. Who had Molitor beaten up to that point? The list is damn short...
But, on the other hand, a win over Ponce de Leon is pretty good.
It's probably the best win on both resumes at this point, so... one can't really be called special without the other getting the same credit.
Marquez at this point won't beat JML. Its like Barrera/Morales with Pac. Would be a nice fight but JML would take it.
I think Cab has the biggest chance to beat JML at 122. 126, I honestly don't know.
I've never seen him fight, but I have heard some DAMN good things about Jorge Linares. I think the consensus is that Lopez and Linares are the best two up and comers in the sport right now.
Ok if they ever fight at 122 I would bet all my points. I will reserve them for just for that.
This is sooooooo stupid...
"Outclass" is a subjective word. How the **** do you agree on whether he was "outclassed" or not?
He beat Ponce's ass and that was 5 years ago.
If JuanMa can handle some big right hands, he's got my respect but if Cab stays outside, he can box well.
If JuanMa can stand up to his bombs, he has my respect.
I know he won't though :)
Poor JuanMa.
You know he wants someone else. He never mentions Cab.
he he he
It is true that he hasn't mentioned Caballero.
To be fair, he really does just call out the two biggest cash cows in the division... Vazquez and Marquez.
He seems very money hungry, even at this young of an age, which could get very irritating if he conducts his entire career based on this.
You know, we got that bet.
Juanma will outclass him believe me.
The only guy in that division, who can beat Juanma and I would be nervous as hell seen Juanma against is Rafael Marquez.
I can't believe Marquez scares you the most out of anyone in the divison.
He's small for the division, and his power is diminished at 122. Vazquez has a good chin, but it's not invincible... Gonzalez and Larios cracked it up when they fought him. Marquez, on the other hand, didn't do that much damage to Vazquez's chin.
Marquez also doesn't have the best defense. He is very aggressive, and eats a lot of shots for his trouble.
Finally, his chin is clearly not world class, and with someone like Lopez, who has mroe power than he knows what to do with... I don't think Marquez would be able to stand up. Marquez would be one of the easier big fights for Lopez at 122 IMO.
Na men, Caballero is not as good as advertise. He wont last long against Juanma, believe me.
I know You are thinking, this is just ChampPR, nuthugging on PR figher this and that. ANd its fine. But Ive have seen like 10 caballero fights, and he is nothing special, he is just tall and have a good pop. But he is too sloppy for guys like Juanma, Izzy and Rafa. eally Im been serious. He fights simila to De Leon, with the difference than caballeo cant fight on the inside!!!!!
But you are entitle to your opinion, so its cool!!!!!!
Im agreeing with all of this.

All the top guys in 122 never mentions Pelenchin because they are afraid. You could see it in their interview Rafa/Izzy/JuanMa those three would talk about fighting each other but they wont mention Cab.
