it would still be pacquiao.because if he beats hatton,he will become the first to have 4-lineal real-claim titles in 6 weight divisions.also pacquiao has beaten marquez.
Can we not make this about the dispute over who won their 1st 2 fights. I think that's been done alot here already. Let's take the official results and decide who the P4P king will be if both Pac #1 and JMM # 2 wins their respective fights. Now who is it going to be for you with this scenario?
I would say Pac but i would leave it to the Ring mag and other boxing media outlets outthere(except for boxrec).
I'm going to say JMM here.
pac is still #1 even if jmm beats pbf because pbf is coming off a layoff and coming down in weight; not to mention that pac already beat JMM 2x.
It doesn't matter if JMM becomes P4P #1 if he beats Mayweather, Pac still has a win over Marquez. Or you can make that 2 wins if the error in the 1st fight was corrected.

But I do believe that it would still be debatable until him and Pac fight a 3rd and decisive fight.
For sure. But you know rankings by different publications will still go out before the 3rd fight decides everything. So who's your #1 before the 3rd fight?
if Pac beats Hatton, Pac would have held 4 Lineal world championships. the only boxer to do so in the history of the sport and 6 world championship along with Oscar Dela Hoya.
You know this could just sway alot of boxing experts when they compile their P4P list. Great point. The same way they looked at Pac after defeating Golden Boy, who most of them consider a legend. I'm sure Pac got extra points for that.

if JMM beats PBF, that would be a huge achievement for JMM who would have gone up in weight plus his age disadvantage....
who would be p4p? its going to be a very subjective decision but im going for Pacquiao
Counter question, where would you rank PBF if he beats Marquez?
Not very high, really. JMM's a considerably smaller fighter and it doesn't enhance his resume if he beats JMM. We're talking a natural 130lb fighter versus a natural 147 lber.
Shane's not # 2 and he won't be moving up. I think JMM moving up and beating PBF, a former undefeated # 1, is a bigger accomplishment than Shane beating PBF.
I can accept that, that's fair.
But I do believe that it would still be debatable until him and Pac fight a 3rd and decisive fight. One could always say JMM doesn't have a win over Pac in 2 fights and JMM would have a win over an undefeated Mayweather.
Funny how nobody sees that scenario happening.
JMM should be p4p no. 1 in that scenario.
Floyd's just too big a name for a victim even with the layoff of more than a year, but a win is highly improbable for JMM anyway.
If JMM actually beat PBF at anywhere from 140-147 he is ahead.
I think Pac-Hatton is a close fight but I dont give JMM a big chance at all, that would definitely be a huge upset.
I don't give JMM a chance against PBF, as well, but that's not my question. I just wanted to where to rank him if both Pac and him win their fights.
Pacquiao
Just because Floyd is who he is doesn't just put JMM over a guy he's fought twice and never beaten. Floyd retired which changed the landscape of the P4P list. If anything it'll make the trilogy into a Mega Event than the previous 2 fights.
If Shane beat were to beat Floyd if Pac doesn't fight him, would it be fair to put Mosley over Pacquiao being Pacquiao had already beaten Hatton who was undefeated at 140?
