Hes always saying 'The Joke Coach Roach' like its the biggest ownage ever, but Im honestly kind of confused to what hes getting at. Joke and Coach dont rhyme, and if all hes doing is rhyming Coach and Roach, Im not sure why hes throwing it out there. I mean, its kind of easy to think of, considering that Roach is a boxing coach....
What he's doing isn't rhyme, it's called oblique rhyme. The end vowel sounds are (almost) the same (and may in fact be completely the same, given Floyd's particular dialect of English), so the consonants which follow don't necessarily have to be.
joke coach roach rhymes if you don't enunciate correctly.
I can agree with that.
but sadly...Floyd Sr says joke and coach correctly...
so in his case, it doesnt rhyme.
Here the sounds.......
roach
coach
gropes
joke
pokes
folks
Some of those words rhyme, traditionally. Some don't. The point is that artistically it works. It's not about every letter and syllable fitting. It's about the sound and how it feels/sounds when being performed.
Name ANY artist/musician, and I'll find perfect examples of this.
roach the joke coach just groped those folks?

First of all, rappers dont' stretch words very often. Quite the opposite, actually. They speed up words, to blend the overall sound. And I can point out SOME 'singing artists' if I cared to that don't really do much stretching of the words, at all.
they dont stretch the whole word, they stretch certain sounds in the word, and speed up the other ones. that way that particular sound sticks out among the other ones, and is rhymable with another.
I dont mean they make the word longer than usual, they just butcher the original, traditional sound of the word to fit with another one.
Sr does not change the word whatsoever.
I didnt quote you when I said talked about suffixes, did I?
so it wasnt directed at you.
lol, Im having fun, **** off boat buyer.
difference is, in songs the artists stretch the words' sounds to make them rhyme...Sr doesnt make any such effort, and tries to use the two words as they are, pretending that they rhyme.
assonance does not = real rhyming.

Please point out, where I stated that Joke and Roach had a suffix.
That was a comment targeted toward your general criteria of what you consider rhyming wrods.
I didnt quote you right before I talked about suffixes, did I?
so it wasnt directed at you.
Who gives a shyt.....really? lol, Im having fun, **** off boat buyer.
Jesus, have people not heard of any kind of music?
Words don't need to EXACTLY rhyme. Listen to ANY music and get the hell out of here. difference is, in songs the artists stretch the words' sounds to make them rhyme...Sr doesnt make any such effort, and tries to use the two words as they are, pretending that they rhyme.
assonance does not = real rhyming.
I'm not saying your argument was void or anything, it's just that the way you used the word in that one particular post was wrong or at the very least misleading.
I wasn't talking to you. Look at what I quoted.
Apparently you interpreted it differently. As I was typing it, I felt I wasn't giving that impression.
Sr isnt putting any stress on the OOOO sound at all, its a very brief sound(like its supposed to sound).
does not rhyme.
wtf are you trying to joke around with me? neither coach nor joke has a suffix.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suffix
maybe if he made it something like 'you have to be joking, Roach is coaching?' it would have worked, because then they have similiar sound endings as well as the vowel sound.
Please point out, where I stated that Joke and Roach had a suffix.

Yes, I do.
I only mentioned suffixes, because he was thinking along the lines of only words that are matched syllable for syllable can only be considered rhyming, including the suffix.
Such as:
Sooner
Mooner
Tuner
etc.
Nice try, though.

Dude give it up - its a good thing you found wikipedia - i gave u green k for trying
If you really wanted to, you could make Loan and Coach rhyme, but you would have to put an even stronger emphasis on the Long "O" sound.
What if I said,
cOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOach
and lOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOan
But in the words we are discussing, "Joke" and "Coach" such an emphasis is not needed considering that they both end with hard sounds.
"Ke" and "Ch", which makes it a lot easier.

You try so hard but yet you do not understand what a suffix is.

I thought it was fairly clear cut that he thinks Roach is a joke of a coach.
You try so hard but yet you do not understand what a suffix is.
Yes, I do.

Do I need to repeat myself?
Here, I'll use caps and bold it:
WORDS DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE SAME SUFFIX IN ORDER TO RHYME.
rhyme
/raɪm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation Show IPA noun, verb, rhymed, rhym⋅ing.
–noun
1. identity in sound of some part, esp. the end, of words or lines of verse.
2. a word agreeing with another in terminal sound: Find is a rhyme for mind and womankind.
jOOOOOOOOOOke
cOOOOOOOOOOach
Obviously in speech you would put emphasis on the part of the word that you're rhyming, in this instance it would be the long "O" sound.
God. That was easy. Jesus, posts as stupid as that are far too frequent on this board.
blackirish, please just stop posting. This is one of those instances where I'm embarrassed for you.
You try so hard but yet you do not understand what a suffix is.
COOOOOOOOOOOOOOach
LOOOOOOOOOOOOan
coach and loan surely dont rhyme.
were talkin about traditional real rhyme here. what youre trying to pull out of your ass is assonance, which is quite different.
look at one of the examples they provide.
The crumbling thunder of seas — Robert Louis Stevenson
honestly, would you think that crumbling and thunder rhymed if you werent in this discussion with me?
no, you wouldnt.
if you were listening to the radio and heard a song that went along the lines of:
'At night I look at the moon
And then decide I need the toothpaste'
youd be like 'wtf this is the worst song ever, shit doesnt even rhyme, but the lyrics are awesome'.
even though they both make the same vowel sound,'oo'.
I believe he was referring to Pure Assonance Rhyming.
Pure Assonance Rhyme
1. Single Pure Assonance Rhyme (example: leaves / feast)
2. Double Pure Assonance Rhyme (example: babies / lady)
3. Triple Pure Assonance Rhyme (example: Cerements / temperance)
Like I said, trust me, you lost this one. Does the entire message board need to call you an idiot?
