The History.
Just looking back at previous fights, storylines, events.
The UFC doesn't have that, and thats why I will probably never be a fan.
Could the UFC EVER make a documentary like this, NEVER.
The modern day fights in boxing have been superb this year, for me the primetime of the year starts this Saturday with Froch-Taylor, boxing has put together some monumental fights coming up in the next few months.
Boxing fans get the beers, get the snacks, and strap yourself into your chair for the next few months, it's gonna be one hell of a ride.
im a fan of both, but the one thing about boxing is that i know i'll see some boxing. Im a fan of knockouts, so there's no argument that the UFC doesn't provide a good show, but i don't and never will enjoy watching two men wrestle. Joe Rogan cracks me up though because everytime two guys lay on eachother (mainly from exhaustion) he almost seems to be making shit up about what either fighter is trying to do (when clearly they are both exhausted). oh he's going for the scorpion! whatever Joe. Ref please stand these men up. thank you.
and unfortunately this happens quite often in mma. it's the reason why you have to pack 8 or more fights on everycard.
ring entrances in boxing can be pumped up a bit more, but for the most part the fights themselves bring the real drama.
MMA seems to depend on WWE antics to sell to the audience. the pre-fight hype is always a bit questionable, where as in boxing, 98% of the fighters have a life-long affiliation with the sport, which makes watching their pre-fight documentaries more compelling.
This is the sport that's biggest in Wales, up to 50,000 people pay to see this in stadiums:

Anorak!, I'm guessing you haven't been to the great country.
That isn't just a sport, it's a way of life!
You serious??? Japan's Pride cards held close to 40,000 people in STADIUMS at average.
There's a lot of cards throughout Asia, UK, Ukraine, South America, etc.
But it's normal for someone who wouldn't know much about the sport to not see it for what it really is. You can't have a convo with a Basketball fan who hates Football about how great the Cowboys played last Sunday...they won't care.
MMA isn't "huge" in the UK.
So you can remove that country.
How do I know? Its where i'm from.
ufc bores the crap out of me. who wants to see guys on the floor holding on to eachother? i appreciate it's an art to it but leading up the the moves they execute it's boring as **** and sometimes people can fluke you in mma with an arm bar or something, there are no flukes in boxing... the best man wins.
Boxing has historical events, historical fighters, and pretty much a long history. I think well see a new era of boxing in the next 2-3 years. There have been alot of good match ups and still alot that can be made. Its sucks that the promotional end of it all has to F$%^ it up.
MMA is ok, but it's just impossible to have sustained action in it because so much of it is taking someone down and stalling.
Every once in a while you get a cool KO or a crazy submission, but they're just spots. There's no ebb and flow.

no offense but thats exactly whats going on in here with you.
outside the US MMA is huge.
Where exactly?

UFC doesn't excite me...boxing does.
UFC doesn't last the distance...boxing does.
UFC is uninteresting to watch and analyize...boxing is.
UFC generally sucks ****ing big donkey cock, boxing doesn't.
LMFAOOOOO
But you're basing it off you yourself just being a big Boxing fan and hating on MMA for the sake of it. The reason those fights don't go 12 rounds is because they're not just throwing punches, you got kicks, elbows, back fists, then if they start grappling that takes even more stamina away from you no matter what kind of condition you're in.
Like I mentioned prior, It's cool if people don't like MMA, but you can just say it's a flash in the pan or a mediocre sport because outside the US MMA is huge, it's only recently that MMA has flourished here.

I keep telling people. When UFC goes 12 rounds and people have died in the UFC and it has over 100 years of history.....then i'll get all hyped about it.
Homoeroticism? Grown ass men rolling around, hugging, groping, being in position 69, kissing, in speedos? Nah, i'm cool off that. At least that's how MMA is packaged.
Did you notice that the MMA is takin either promotion to the silver screen? There's this movie comin out called "Fighting." Looks intriguing, of course i'm gonna watch it. How else can i talk shiit about it if i don't see it? Anyways, this is the second MMA movie to promote the sport. That gay ass movie "Never back Down" and now this.
Sorry, MMA movies will never compare to the Rocky saga.

The UFC is only in it's infancy as a historical sport.. Give it a chance..
It will never take over boxing, simply because Jujitsu, although skillful is piss boring to watch.. All of their champs are masters of this discipline.. You get someone in a headlock & you've won basicaly.. Jeeez, I've seen guys lose by having their foot bent incorrectly..
Surely this is not at all interesting or entertaining.. In fact, it's almost as painful to the viewer as it is for the fighter..

You can't compare
Boxing's been around for over 100 years. MMA as a whole has only been on US soil since maybe the late 80s-early 90s. It's only now that its flourished on the main stream. If you DO know about history you'd know many people were trying to ban Boxing during the early 20s-30s because of the brutality and what not and look what it ended up becoming.
You can't make an argument about something you really have no knowledge about (in this case being MMA). It's like arguing to a Rocket Scientist about how the tanks on a Space Shuttle should be black instead of red (:fing02:)
Sports like mma will come and go but boxing will always stand the test of time.It has too much prestige.I doubt that theyll be any talk of mma being more popular in 10 years time, probably less.
