Manny Pacquiao's speed won't be an issue for Ricky Hatton, Floyd Mayweather Sr., the British boxing star's trainer, said on Friday.
Mayweather said this during the opening of Hatton's training session to the media in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"I don't think that Manny is a technical fighter. I really don't. In my honest opinion, the man is with Freddie Roach for eight years. The man still ain't moving his damn head...," Mayweather said.
Hatton's camp also showed for the first time the counter punch that they will use against Pacquiao's powerful left hook.
Hatton, meanwhile, told ABS-CBN North America News Bureau in an exclusive interview that he currently weighs in at 149 pounds, and he is confident he will reach the 140-pound limit before their match on May 2.
"Maybe I'm overtraining. That certainly is not the case, so bear in mind that the mistakes Oscar dela Hoya made in his last fight that fresh in the memory. I don't want to make the same mistake as Oscar did," Hatton said.
Before the training session ended, Mayweather opened a package from Roach, which contained slimming pills, a letter, and a T-shirt.
Mayweather immediately retorted, "too late." With a report from Bev Llorente, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau, in Las Vegas, Nevada
Damn, that Foreman KO over Moorer is one of my favourite at heavy of all time:boxing:
''and once again, heavyweight Champion of the World, Big George Foreman..''
I remember that bringing a tear to my eye watching that at the time.
No one in pacquiao's camp claims that he is a technical fighter because he is not... he has a combination of technical, power, speed, accuracy, heart, and intelligence..
What else can you ask?
Man, did anybody here witness the footwork he displayed against De La Hoya? You can even see it in training...he switches up where he is like nobody I've ever seen. Combine that with ferocious handspeed and power and you got Manny.
Of course Manny's not a technical fighter, he only knows how to fight one way, which is why he's f***ed on May 2nd.
Hatton may only fight one way also, but his style will be more effective against Mannys.
Not naturally or by design, but he's shown in recent fights he can be one if he has to be. It's soundin more and more like Hatton's team wants to try and outbox Pac, and they'll lose 4 sho if they do.
michael moorer won the heavyweight title twice
how many titles have you won ?
michale moorer is know for having very poor work ethic and being a head case...and being a lazy bum of a paper champ....bottom line, fact jack
roach has trained 23 world champions. how many have you trained ?
hes not god, and his lost alot with his fighters as well
then brought in the bum michael moorer
yea manny has becomed polished....but hes natural instinct is too slug it out.....roach has been saying that "hatton will go back to his old ways".....I think it will be pac that will go back to his old ways of wanting to trade shots, after hatton lands his first bomb
