Brace yourselfs for some sort of contraversy tonight, Invetiably in modern boxing, if the scores do go to the judges, there tends to be one nutcase judge on the take that has the score way off.
Im gonna reel in my prediction slightly, Its a bit of a guessing game because we haven't seen froch up against this sort of class, but I think he's in great shapes from the pics and he's ready for a war, taylor has these nasty habits that he goes back to once he gets hurt.
Simply this fight goes two ways
1) Taylor takes the centre of the ring and wins Wide UD
2) Taylor gets pushed or wanders onto the ropes and all hell breaks loose
I think froch is going to have his moments in this fight, and i'll go for a Jermain Taylor UD, but ill go for something close, like a controversial 115-113 with taylor possibly having to dig deep for the decision and froch saying he done enough to win.
This could be way off, im just mindful of taylor around the ropes, that's the key to this fight, if he cant stay away from them, anything can happen to him.
i just watched the pascal fight again and was surprised to see how good frochs jab is...if anyone thinks taylor may out jab froch they mat well be in for a surprise....if froch lands he wins.....it is that simple.
When the fight was first made, I was probably only 60% confident Taylor would win since someone like Froch may be able to exploit his questionable stamina and eventually get to his chin.
As the fight gets closer though, I am getting more confident in Taylor. If we all know what he has to do to win this fight, surely he knows. Even the Froch fans for the most part seem to think Taylor will probably outbox Carl up to the point they believe Carl will KHTFO. I think Taylor is fully aware that Froch's biggest chance in this fight is his power, and will do what he can to fight smart and stay away from it.
I'm thinking the opposite. When the fight was first made, i thought Taylor would be too skilled for Froch and box a UD. As the fight gets closer though, i'm leaning towards a Froch win. Although that could be my heart talking, not my head.
Froch has been keeping a good guard in training, and if he uses that and utilises Taylor's jab, he could cause an upset.
We've seen Taylor dropped by Lacy early (maybe a trip), but if Froch can wobble Taylor, it could be finished soon after. Taylor's game is the vital factor in this fight. If Froch takes all what Taylor gives, Taylor's mind may let him down leading to lapse of concentration, something Froch could exploit.
This fight should be exciting, and i hold Taylor as the favourite, but a Froch win should not be under-estimated. I'm too excited for this.
Taylor will likely get a close, questionable decision over Froch.
Or he gets embarrassed and flattened after the 6th.
Actually this is pretty accurate.
i think taylor will completly outbox froch for the majority of the match before getting clipped by an uppercut, taylor just beats the count but is all over the place the ref tries to keep it going but but froch is straight in and the ref has to stop it. Froch gets no credit for the win and you all still have a go at him. Everyone also has a go at taylor and more than half of you get really stressy.
Hoping for a Froch win.
He should have fought in the uk, he is the champ after all.
Credit to him for not tho, and in only his first defence fighting a former undisputed middleweight champ.
This shit is about 1 week away, April 25th, who wins and more importantly why?
taylor, based on speed, and overall skill level.
looking forward to the taylor-froch fight.....but i must say, the thing that excites me the most about it, is PACMAN-HATTON WILL BE THE VERY NEXT WEEK!!! :boxing:
smart money is on Taylor, he's the superior boxer after all
but i got a feeling Froch could pull it off. He has a tough chin, a hard punch, a good arsenal with a wide variety of punches
that is enough to give anyone fits, and i believe Taylor may not be the fighter he once was
I see Taylor winning by stoppage at some point in this fight. I really believe he will be all over Froch, and good chin or not, the ref will end the fight if he remains upright.
I have Froch by late stoppage. I'm predicting that Taylor outboxes Froch early before gassing out and getting stopped. If Taylor comes in really well condtioned and really focused he'll win, but I'm yet to be convinced.
I don't rate either fighter very highly, but for the sake of prediction, I've got Froch.
I think the some of the British media are actually underestimating taylor, just because froch obviously has the desire to win, doesn't automatically mean that Taylor isnt doing the same. They keep harping on about the same things.
1)Because Jermain Taylor's camp says 'who the froch is carl', this means they are gonna take it too easy and under prepare.
2)Because Jermain lost to kelly pavlik, he isnt the fighter who beat hopkins, therefore he loses to carl.
3) If Carl fights like he did against pascal, he will win.
4) Duke McKensie even said 'Taylor makes more mistakes than froch', what an idiot.
I dont think they understand the following, Froch has heart, but if taylor comes in focused, there is only so much his heart can do.
-Taylor is not jean pascal
-Taylor wont come up to froch hands down looking to trade
-Taylor does have decent handspeed at the weight and a very good jab.
Taylor has to do 2 things in this fight,
-Keep his hands up, particularly that left.
-And the most important one is, Move laterally, dont back up. Froch is gonna be on the front foot looking to turn it into a war, taylor needs to double and triple the jab whilst stepping off the to side.
good post man - green k.
i see taylor winning this fight as well, froch is a strong fighter, with a good chin and throws awkward punches from strange angles, because of that he can tag you when you dont expect it and we know that hurts a damn sight more. he needs to use his jab and look to throw straight punches, he shoots a telegraphed right uppercut too often that JT will slip and counter and his hands are too low leaving his chin exposed.
JT is the quciker fighter and should have no trouble landing punches, he should fight in the pocket as you mentioned and not get drawn into a slugfest with the bigger man. if he uses his jab, counters well and pot shots here and there he should win.
i see taylor UD although if he turns up anything less than 100% froch will punish him for it.

Great post; I've noticed the same thing about the British media (and Froch's UK fans in general). Many see Taylor as damaged goods and love matching Carl's perceived strengths against Jermain's perceived weaknesses when analyzing the fight to justify picking Carl to win, as though Taylor is going to come in at his worst and Froch at his best.
However when you match strengths against strengths, Taylor is the better skilled, quicker fighter who has shown better defense and has more experience in big fights. Carl is probably stronger and has shown a solid chin thus far but those things don't win fights unless the opponent makes mistakes somewhere along the way. If Taylor comes in and fights a good fight, miminizing his mistakes, it's really REALLY hard to pick against him.
Taylor decision for me . Froch is tough tho I think tbh because he's never even been down in the ams or pros and I watched that Pascal fight and look's like he's got a chin on him but on the other hand you've got to question level of opposition and Taylor having 2 decisions against B-Hop it just looks to me like he's a we bit in class above Froch . This one sort of puts me in mind of Witter Hatton a bit Froch calling out Calzaghe all the time . I've just got a feeling it's going to be a similar ending and can't see Froch keeping that WBC belt for long.
