I think I might know the answer but I was wondering, when you see Floyd Jr. and Ricky Hatton come in the ring wearing Mexican sombreros, do you think it's out of respect or out of dissrespect?
Maybe it's different with each guy.
I know Floyd wore the sombrero in the DLH fight and Hatton wore one in the Castillo fight.
I think Mayweather did it because the cinco de Mayo weekend and also because he wanted to get the Mexican PPV money, other people in his crew had "Mexico loves Mayweather" shirts on. Watever you think about Floyd he's not stupid, he wasn't trying to piss off the Mexican fight fans IMO...He's all about the money and in Boxing Mexicans bring in a lot of loot.
Hatton did it to also win over the Mexican-American fight fans, it's not the first time a Brit does that. Michael Gomez changed his name from Michael Armstrong and his nickname is "the Irish Mexican" it's kind of funny that his favorite fighter is Wilfredo Gomez and that's why he changed his name, yet he comes out dressed in a Sombredo with a Mariachi band.

Ya, but did you see their shirts his team had. It stated "Mexico Likes Mayweather" or "Mayweather Likes Mexico"
He has plenty others, Hitman, Ricky Fatton, etc..
I know those but never heard of the Mexican of Manchester..

no doubt it was floyd being "funny," but i've never heard him say anything disparaging towards mexicans, so depending on how thick your skin is, it could've been taken as "part of the show" or "disrespectful".....depending on your point of view.
had he said some shit like, "i'll never lose to a mexican," before the fight, and did it, i would understand the outrage......but he didn't so, i look at it as floyd putting on a show.
now that you mention it....if the fight had been during kwanzaa, and he came into the ring wearing a daishiki, i would've found it funny and disrespectful at the same time. :lol1:
being that quintana probably isn't racist tho, i would've given him props for being a showman....
i agree .
Who cares! They both did it to get a reaction from the fans, crowd and they both accomplished that shit.
It didn't bother me at all. They either did it to f^ck around with people's minds or because they are indeed a pair of assholes disrespecting their opponents and their nationalities.
id like to know what King Burner II and the legion of paul williams fans wouldve thought if quintana came out holding watermelons

mayweather doing it was disrespectful.
hatton did it with no other notion other than paying homage.
Hatton did it because of his nickname which is the Mexican Manchester and how much he likes the style of Mexican fighters.
Floyd did it because he tried to win some of the Mexican crowd over DLH.
And for me being Mexican, I don't find it disrespectful..:luvbed:
floyd did it b/c it was Cinco de Mayo
Ricky is sometimes known as the "Manchester Mexican" and is also good friends with Barrera, so when he wears a sombrero to the ring, it looks as if he's paying homage.
When Floyd did it against Oscar, he wanted to piss people off. He was playing up to his public persona.
