So who is gonna replace Oscar as Boxing's shining star?

yeah oscar took risk. he fought the big fights in his prime and later on. the money he brought to sport was just crazy. boxing needs somebody to fill his spot.

this are the type of fighters and people that come once in a life time. ODLH, Pacquiao. we wont get to see one soon. but we are very lucky to witness. it's kinda like in the old age they get to see a Jesus. kinda like that pacquiao? do you comprehend the topic at hand?

Mayweather and Pacquiao are the only two who are close. Cotto has a decent backing but he's only known casually in NY IMO. Its gonna take time for some1 to get even close to Oscar's level. Floyd did his best imitation then hung his gloves up.

The Brits get shite for hyping our fighters, but we just like them to get onto world level and then essentially we are happy. I think we'd have a new 'star' but I don't know about the amount of interest in boxing as a whole in the US. They could have created one already-tis not that hard. Kell needs to moved down to 140 man, I don't want to see him in with those freaks at 147 when he hits world class.

Floyd Mayweather will carry the torch Floyd Mayweather, if he comes back to boxing full time, will be the next shining star in boxing. The foundation has already been laid for him to be the highiest money maker. All he has to do is come back and box full time. If not Mayweather, then Manny Pacquio will be the next shining star to carry the torch..

How about Danny Jacobs? He seems to have it all, and seems like a good guy. I like how he gave one of this opponents a little pep-talk after he bashed-him-to-oblivion. Shows of class like that appeal to people. Obviously it's early, but that one action showed me he has promise. Obviously, he has to keep knocking people out though I think.

i was gonna say Pac but the fact that he isn't american hurts his appeal here in the US and well they say he only wants 2 or 3 more fights before retiring. I think Victor Ortiz has a chance although not as popular as Oscar. Ortiz has just about everything DLH has, Golden Boy just needs to bring up right not rushing him!

Love him or hate him the guy was the only real boxer who had cross over appeal to a mainstream audience over the last 15 years. Is there anyone left that has a remote chance of keeping boxing in the mainstream or is boxing doomed to obscurity? Shouldnt that be "So who is gonna replace Oscar as the pretty face, media darling, who never delivered in his biggest fights and made millions doing it?" No one hopefully. We need another Tyson. Yeah, Ortiz definatley has some stardust about him - but not on the scale of Oscar. He's very exciting, personable, speaks well and is decent looking kid ~(no homo) I just hope GBP don't make a mess of bringing him through. Yeah i really like the guy but 50,000 people just are not gonna watch him fight in a giant football stadium like they did for oscar.
