That was a odd HBO broadcast. I was watching it with a bunch of people who really dont follow boxing. So it starts and all the girls couldnt get over Chris Arreola. They couldnt get over how ugly he was and laughed on and on. Then it just got kinda weird. Lampley was a wet eyed babbling brook the whole night. They asked how old that man was and why it took him so long to talk. (Larry Merchant :D). Then the awkward ring card girl commentating. Then at the very end, they all just looked at me like WTF. That was a circus. Inside I was dying. I was thinking, you should see boxingscene. :lol1: Arreola's nose is a site to see on the big screen that's for sure.

So we lose someone in the boxing community and you call it b.s? Seeing Larry almost in tears made me a little sad. Lampley is a girl so I expected him to tear up.

Steward was the only one who wasnt emotional. I guess we know which one is heartless. Everyone deals in a different way. Some people ball their eyes out, some people it might just hit them later.

Curry, HBO boxing expert, dies at 49 BY Mitch Abramson DAILY NEWS WRITER Thursday, April 9th 2009, 8:02 PM Arthur Curry, director of talent relations for HBO Sports, who spent his childhood in foster homes and rose from his position as a part-time mailroom clerk to one of the most well-liked employees at HBO Sports for his work with fighters, died in his Greenpoint, Brooklyn, home on Wednesday. The death was disclosed by Brian Adams, a close friend and the director of the Daily News Golden Gloves. Curry was 49. The cause of death was unknown, though Adams said Thursday that Curry had undergone knee replacement surgery last year and was taking medication to deal with the after-effects. "It looked like a heart attack, but you really have no way of knowing until the coroner's report comes back," said Adams. Curry was a liaison for HBO between the executives and the talent, offering guidance to the boxers. "He made the fighters feel comfortable," Adams said. After being appointed to his position in 1996, Curry forged strong relationships with some of the network's top fighters like Roy Jones Jr., Arturo Gatti, Winky Wright, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. "He came from nothing but he was able to build this tremendous career for himself," said Lou DiBella, as a programming executive at HBO worked with Curry. "He had the greatest people skills I've ever seen." Curry's sister died of cancer just six weeks ago, DiBella said.
