Yeah, Calzaghe was always susceptible to ko's wasnt he.
calzaghe was always susceptible to fighting complete cans wasn't he. even some of those cans knocked him on his ass. this is only when the ref let them actually fight instead of pretending it was an amateur fight and stopping it after an unlanded slap furry.

NO, but if you think about it. Gerald threw fast, accurate, and straight. Joe throws looping shots. I'm betting G-Man beats him to the punch, that's the "point".
calzaghe isn't a great technician, he throws alot of sloppy windmill punches, g-man would be by far the hardest puncher he,s fought, and in there primes, G-MAN tko 9
Must we forget that Gerald had fast hands? He was killing people before the Benn tragedy. I don't even want to open up that can, we'd be here all day. Nonetheless, the G-Man would've won. No disrespect to Joe, I hate the feg, but the mvfvcka can box, and box good at that. G-Man too much in his prime though.
I have only two people beating Joe in his prime, G-Man and Roy.
Calzaghe UD.
G-Man had no experience past round 7(?) until he fought Benn. That's a hell of a disadvantage taking on a guy like Calzaghe who isn't phased by big punchers (at least not till his later years).
The G-Man when he had Stewart in his corner was a good boxer/puncher. When Stewart left his corner he became slugger/head hunter, it's one of the reasons why he lost to Benn and became what he is now.Oh it wouldn't of had anything to do with Benn making him fight like that then ?? Just remember that Stewart was sacked just weeks before the fight ....rumor has it he advised McClellan not to take the Benn fight ....hence why he got sacked ....infact Stewart was on British TV after the fight saying he originaly thought Benn was gonna be a much harder fight than the American press had thought !
Stewart said that when Benn had took all the huge power shots and Gerald couldn't put him away ...he felt that Benn was gonna be the favorite ...due to Benn being in those types of fights before !
Stewart was right!
Its surprising how all the guys on this thread that pic McClellan over Calzaghe ...are usually on other threads picking anyone over the Welshman !:thinkerg:
Would have been a great fight. Calzaghe UD though.

what about his hook to the floating ribs?
Calzaghe has never really been troubled by body work probably because southpaws are hard to hit to the body. Especially one as good as Joe, McCllelans body work may not even matter Calzaghe never had stamina problems.
Calzaghe UD, G man would have his spots but I think Calzaghe's chin at 168 is solid and could take McCllelans right hands if Benn whos chin was average could take them and come back the way he did then I think Calzaghe could UD him.
he had awesome power and had good speed with skill to match. the shots that kesslar caught joe with if that was GMAN he would have been in alot more trouble. kessler was slower then gman and every time he through that right hand he got joe with it. how many big punches can a fighter take from G MAN?
and i feel as soon as he hit joe with that power joe would try and fight off the back foot. and Gman would chase him down relentlessly.
you see the only reason why ben beat GMAN was because the jackson fights damaged him.
but never the less i still feel the fight should have been stopped in the first.
G-Man KO. Calzaghe could possibly take it if it went the distance, but I don't see that happening. Calzaghe starts cold, and if he went down early like he did against Hopkins or Jones, McClellan would finish it where they couldn't.
Calzaghe takes over in the late rounds if he gets there. McClellan suffered from stamina problems throughout his career, possibly due to weight-draining.
calzaghe decision or young calzaghe by tko late.
people dont realise calzaghe had one of the true granite chins in the sport when he was 26-30 ish, his chin seems to have deteriorated lately.
