Does Cotto have the potential to be an ATG?

No...he takes stupid fights. Margarito and now Clottey. He has no chance...the same thing will happen Cotto looks great for a couple rounds then Clottey starts breaking that azz down and stops Cotto...Clottey wil be a light heavyweight on fight night. Cotto doesn't take stupid fights. He fought Mosley, Margarito and now he's fighting Clottey. If anything, Cotto deserves respect for that. He fights hard, he's classy and he fights the best. Honestly, I don't know how anyone can hate on Cotto. By the way, he's gonna beat Clottey. You'll see.

Nah he's right. He didn't word it right, but I know what he means. Cotto has the type of body that makes it difficult to go up weight classes. Taller skinnier fighters have more success doing that like Floyd, DLH, Hearns, PWill, SRL etc... If Cotto went up to Middleweight he would just soooooooooooooo small. He'll never be more than a 3 division champ cause his compact body makes it hard for him to go to low, but his height and reach disadvantage will make it very difficult for him to be successful at the higher weights. Where are all those fighters in the list that Mayweather fought? Are they all retired?

Please Pacquiao has fought better fighters. there's no Casamayor there, i dunno why a fight w/ casamayor didn't happen, that was before my time theres no Kosta Tyzu. when could floyd have fought tszyu? he was semi-retired and when he returned sharmba was his mando and immediately after that hatton already signed to fight him. so when could this fight have come off? everytime a big challenger was present Mayweather went up in weight. who are these challenges? You have to beat the best fighters. how when they aren't willing to fight? cotto showed what he could do against a mosley a fighter that is better than all those fighters mayweather has fought. that was a close fight fhat mosley would've won in vegas. mosley had his chance to fight floyd, but he said he had a toothache. I am not sure what the requirements are to be a future Hall of Famer. What I do know, it is within his size and weight to challenge and set victories over quality fighters. The problem is, he is not the total package yet.

It's all opinionated just like the P4P list. There's Boxing writers who call Hearns an ATG, but he didn't really beat or dominate everyone he fought more than just fighting the big names and being a really great fighter. In the same notion I can call De La Hoya an ATG though he lost a good number of his big fights. The way I see it, when we're in our 60s and guys like Cotto, Floyd, Oscar, etc are mentioned, I highly doubt anyone is going to say "nah, he's not an all time great because he didn't do this or do that". Every fighter is always going to have something someone will nitpick at, but at the end of the day they'll be remembered as great fighters. I think that's all you can ask for.
