If Oscar retires, Which i strongly believe he will announce in a few days, i dont wanna hear all the people on here calling him a bitch and a pussy. OK, alot of people may not like Oscar, expecially after his loss to Manny, that is your guys opinion and you are certainly entitled to it, i will not try to make you an Oscar fan here, however i will ask all of you as boxing fans to atleast show a little respect to a man who excaped the ghetto of east LA and has become truely one of the greatest fighters of our generation and the richest. Ocar did this the right way to, by fighting everybody, and showing time and time again even after a loss he could come back and win against adversity.
If you dont like Oscar thats ok, but a man who is a 10 time world champ in 6 differnt weight classes i think deserves a little respect from all of us....
i liked young oscar...the jr. middleweight and the middleweight oscar...i didnt like....and i admire him a lot for what his done on the business side of boxing, but he should have got out after the floyd fight, hes legacy would have looked real good with just a split decision loss in his final fight
De La Hoya had only 45 fights which is not really that many but they were against very good opposition.
In his resume he fought guys like Whitaker, Camacho, Chavez Sr., Quartey, Trinidad, Mosley, Vargas, Hopkins, Mayweather Jr., and Pacquiao. He may have lost a lot of those big fights but he still gave the boxing world its own share of classics. Lots of respect from me for that.
I hope he doesnt retire. Oscar isnt shot, his preperation was simply awful against Manny, he, or rather his team, got it all so wrong.
Oscar certainly has at least one more classic in him, and i for one would love to see him finish his career on a high, taking anther world title belt, but at no lower that 154
the man is a legend of this era, and thus deserves much, much respect for it.
Definately at least one more fight.
Against Arthur Abraham atleast...

Very well said and I will even go one further than that. I think if it was not for Oscar, boxing would have taken a serious blow.
Think about this, every decade comes a fighter that captures the attention of not only boxing fans but people around the world that aren't necessary hardcore boxing fans.
In the 70's it was Ali, in the 80's it was Mike Tyson and Sugar Ray Leonard and in the 90's it was without a doubt Oscar DeLahoya.
We are missing that charismatic fighter in this decade. I think some people were expecting Floyd Mayweather to be that guy but his retirement and his antics I think have taken away from his legacy.
Oscar DeLahoya single handedly kept boxing afloat in the 90's and to today and garnished interest in a sport which has always been in the fringe minds of most casual sports fans.
I also think Oscar has a chance of making a bigger impact as a promoter than he did as a boxer and that is saying a lot.
Oscar =ATG and HOF
Naw no hate on DLH he's done as much for the sport as anybody in the history of boxing!!!! I may have hated him the last couple years but i cant take anything away from the guy for what he has done in the ring and outside as a promoter. His influence in boxing will still continue to be high in boxing as a sole promoter now
I'll certainly respect Oscar's accomplishments for what he's done for the sport, and all the publicity he's brought to Boxing.
I just think he hung around too long, and made a fight (vs Pacquiao)
that was strictly about the money only
which isn't the worst thing in the world
how can u hate oscar?
even as a promoter he's done so much for the sport
HOF'r easy
but the fishnet thing makes me wonder if he's gone a lil jmm on us....:greddy2::greddy2::greddy2:
No reason to hate Oscar when he did nothing but to bring all entertainment to boxing fans and he should be remembered because of that... No need to bring that loss to manny in this thread...
exactly that deadpool guy just rambles on about nonsense in threads

Oscar lasted longer against Pacquiao then Hatton will
oscar was shell of himself that night...its not the oscar that we all know....any goon could have lasted longer than oscar that night.
