His last fight was in july with Judah am i right? It seems unwise to go this long without a tune up especially since his fight with Cotto is right around the corner..
I like Clottey alot and i think his skills are very underrated. His speed, tight defense and impressive combinations are phenomenal. However rewatching the Chico fight and especially his most recent Judah fight It left me wondering. Does he have the power to hurt or even bother Cotto? The movement and workrate aswell?
arum could not find him a fight
arum couldn't find him a BIG fight.....so stay busy, and fight who you can, until that BIG fight comes along......never liked it when boxers take a year off b/c they can't get the fight they want. just keep it moving, and that BIG fight will come along, as long as you keep winning.
clottey's good, but not good enough to beat cotto, and after a year off, that hurts him even more.
I see what youre saying. But I dunno i just dont see Clottey hurting Cotto at all. Against Chico he was impressive as hell but he stood right there and took Clotteys shots without being knocked out and he was a bit chinny. Clotteys punches look sorta like arm-punches. Not sure if Cotto can hurt him either so im saying itll go the distance untill i make up my mind.
chico was a blown up welterweight! so clotteys victory over him.. at least for me.. doesnt means shit>
the zab win.. was a good one.... still... zab was working him very good for a few rounds.. .still is truth that he wasnt hurting him... but everytime he was hit, he turn into turtleshell mode and couldnt throw any punches at all....
then ...
the REAL ZAB JUDAH showed up and clottey took over....
He definitly can beat him.... but I think cotto's experience & boxing skills will be the difference.
once again, IF the fight happen
Mr. Obama, I didn't know you were a conspiracy theorist.
I dont know poo..... but that conspiracy seems very real! I dont think hes far away from reality
Clottey is gonna pound that body and hit him hard and see if he can make him quit, every fighter that fights him now will. Cotto should have fought Mosely anyway...But this Clottey fight is no joke at all and I can't wait for it. Clottey will be rested and as many have stated hungry.:boxing:

Clottey is probably piised all the time, and hungrier than a man in a Darfur refugee camp. To him this fight means life or death, and to Cotto it means money for renovations to his mansion in PR. Clottey will probably put a hurting on Cotto.
what are you talking about mansion? he has a 4 room house, one for him, one for his girl, one for his boy, and one for his nutritionist. it's a small house.
cause arum needs to make clottey a name before cotto runs off so clottey can be his next champ
cause then he could make an in-house cotto/clottey rematch
lots of signs that he will
yeah, but boxing is a crazy sport
Only reason I don't see that happening is because Clottey win or lose isn't a marketable fighter. He has no where near the fan base of Cotto's and even with a win over Cotto, Clottey won't be a superstar overnight. Cotto's proven he can pack crowds and the fact that the actual event is almost pretty much FOR Cotto, it's tough for me to see Arum gamble with Cotto's future when he has the biggest chance of all Arum's fighters (along with Pacquiao) to get the big money fights. As much as I'm a fan of Clottey's too, I don't see him fighting any big profile fights. The closest IMO would MAYBE be against Mosley, but even that's a push.

What does him wanting to leave his promotion have anything to do with the outcome of the fight?

Even in the case where Arum would try holding him back (which is what I think you're insinuating), why would he jeopardize the opportunity to make more money off of Cotto before he leaves (contracts ends at the end of the year)?
cause then he could make an in-house cotto/clottey rematch
Cotto hasn't "Officially" come out and said he's leaving Top Rank. lots of signs that he will
LOL that's just crazy
yeah, but boxing is a crazy sport
if cotto is dead set on leaving Top Rank; i think clottey will get a draw or a SD.

Yeah makes sense then. Hes a problem for anyone.
Arum wasn't exactly shopping him around though. Before the Cotto fight was announced Clottey was extremely disappointed with both his management and Arum.
I am a fan of both fighters, but this is going to be Clottey's coming out party,he seems to have a career that mirrors Winky, relatively unknown, but with enough talent to outshine known champions,I respect and admire Cotto for his bravery, but this is Clottey's fight!!
I like Clottey, however i don't think he has the workrate to win a decision out of Cotto. Plus he can forget about KO'ing Cotto because that won't happen.
Depends. I can see your point though. I think it will be a tough fight for both. I can't wait.
