The subject of the thread was what would have happened if Vitali wasn't cut.
True indeed. I don't know what would have happened. Lewis had won the last two rounds and appeared to be coming on strong. He did, however, look fatigued. Vitali on the other hand was a swollen mess. Wait, can I talk about that? LOL. Who knows what would've happened.
Yeah, spent from rearranging the other guy's face in. I believe he closed out the 6th by lifting Vitali off his feet with four straight uppercuts. If Lewis was in such bad shape at the end of the round, what could you possibly say about Vitali? His face looked like it had been run through the meat grinder. yeah, they should've just let it continue so his eyelid could've fallen completely off. Boxing probably would've been banned if we allowed Lennox to land a couple jabs at vitali's uncovered eye. God forbid they landed flush.

Lewis was completely spent at the time of the stoppage. I think the proud man would take a lot of punishment in the next couple rounds before being stopped on his feet.

Lennox Lewis was about the same age Vitali is now, but he was in a sense younger...
He was closer to his prime, because Lewis never had the lingering kickboxing injuries and the periods of time off, because of those and new injuries, that Vitali's had to deal with.
Taking kickboxing into consideration, Vitali has been in more wars than Lewis. In fact, Lennox's long reach of 84" (compared to Vitali's 80") helped him to become virtually untouchable to most of his opponents as long as he kept them at bay with his jab, so he never got hit too much in his career.
LOL @ the reach obsession again. Of course this is wingspan which measure chest and finger length but assuming it's accurate of arm length we're only talking 2" per arm for guys who are 6 1/2 feet tall roughly. Of course your ignoring the height advantage of Vitali which makes reach more effective.
Talk about scraping the barrel...
I thought Vitali would've won regardless. Lewis was damn near out on his feet in the 2nd.
and rushed Vitali at the start of the third and opened his eye up........Lewis was gonna stop him.......Vitali caught Lewis on a bad night and still couldn't deliver......Lewis was outta shape and unmotivated while Vitali was inspired and hungry.......the first few rounds of the fight showed that......but as the fight went on and you started to realize.....yo, this is a fückin' war........you start to see that one guy was perfectly comfortable with bangin' in the phone booth and the other wanted a more tech type fight......Vitali had NEVER been in a fight like that before......Never in such a brutal war that Lennox made him fight.......Lewis on the other hand had been in those kinds of scraps before.......Lewis vs Mercer, especially the 4th round.......is a HW classic.....Vitali had just 3 of his 31 KO's at the time come past 10......Ross Puritty, Vaughn Bean and Larry Donald, not Lewis level opponents.......not to mention Vitali was havin' his way with these dudes......there's nothing that can convince me that Vitali would've finished on his feet.......a 9th round stoppage of a cat named Obed Sullivan is suppose to convince me that Vitali would've got Lewis the same......:nonono:......Lewis had him and Vitali KNOWS it.......he can't live with the feelin he had that night because he's a MAN.....its not the lost, its the fact he FELT beat........he needs self-redemption......Lewis MIGHT sale him a chance at it for something small like $100 mill :lol1:.....Big V get ya stacks up man then holla at "the dread" before them greys get too hard to twist and hide!
You can't say either 'would have won', but Lewis was taking over the fight by that stage. IMHO it would have been a comfortable UD, or late stoppage in Lewis' favour.

It doesn't matter. It wasn't a headbutt that caused it. It was Lewis' punching and that is as much a part of boxing and beating your opponent as knocking him out with one punch is. Lewis won the fight, and I think he would have won it anyway.
No it doesn't, you can go on about lewis predictions all you want, it doesn't make the likelihood of Vitali winning any greater. Lewis was old and fat, and he still won.
I also believe that Lewis didn't quit because he was scared of Vit. He was aware that it would be difficult to beat many top heavyweight in the condition he was in and realized that he simply didn't have the motorvation to extensively train for another fight.
Now it is my turn to say that it does no metter what you think about it.
Coz in the name of this threed there are words " who would've won"
So, it means that everyone is free to dispute or conjecture what would've happend in that fight.
Period.
BTW Lenox was planning three more fight before retirment...
He chenged his mind for some reason.
He-he.
I know, I know.
Sure it does not metter.
It doesnot metter that Lenox gave a word for remuch and retired afterwords.
And it does not metter that he predicted easy wins for next three Vit's opponents.
And Vit distroyed all of them.
It does no metter at all.
Or.
May be it does?

he got cut with a punch....lewis would have cut him again in the rematch anyway.....he never faced anyone with the strength of lewis.......get over it
Lewis never faced anyone with the combination of size, skills, power, chin, and heart of Vitali either.
Since when a cut (even big one) means solid win?
Yes, Lenox lended some bombs in 6, but Vit took all of them well.
Lenox was out of steam ploped down on stool, and look at Vialiy after fight...
Vitali would KOd lenox in late rounds as he does to all opponents usually.
Exactly, Lewis had bad stamina, he never KOed a fighter after the 8th round, whereas Vitali has had plenty of knockout between rounds 9-12. I find that excuse that Lennox was coming on and Vitali was going to get knocked out in the next few rounds to be weak at best. Vitali was never really in any real trouble, whereas Lennox looked like he was on the verge of getting KOed in that 2nd round. I know that Vitali said in his post fight interview that he knew that Lennox was getting tired and that he was letting him tire himself out to knock him out in those later rounds where h knew he was going to lose that power. Obviously it is impossible to tell what would have really happenedhad that fight gone on, but I think Vitali was spot on about how it would have more likely have ended.
BTW, anyone notice how defensive Lewis was in the post fight interview with Merchnt? It seems like even he knew he was getting his ass handed to him by Vitali and the fight handed to him by the doctor.
It really doesn't matter what you think would happen as it's all speculation at the end of the day. Lewis won an thats it.

Lennox destroyed Vitali's face. It was a solid win. Lennox opened the cut and worked at it to force the stoppage. It wasn't a headbutt so it was a legit' TKO and a great win.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not a Lewis nuthugger, I like Vitali, but you gotta' face the real facts and unfortunatly for Vitali bumboys the real facts are that Lewis TKO'd his face.
