17 experts pick Manny Pacquiao to defeat Ricky Hatton
The current issue of The Ring magazine has 21 pages dedicated to coverage of the upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton. One of the features has 20 experts predicting the winner of the fight and 17 have picked Pacquiao.
The three experts who have selected Hatton are Steve Bunch (television commentator) by late-round stoppage; Mark Collings (Esquire UK) mid- to late-round stoppage and Stuart Brennan (Manchester Evening News), possibly late-round stoppage.
Interestingly, two men who have fought Hatton -- Paulie Malignaggi and Luis Collazo -- both pick Pacquiao to win. And David Diaz, who fought Pac Man, also picks Manny by TKO.

No matter what happens in the fight, Pacquaio is deservedly the clear favourite going in.
The De La Hoya fight was not exactly a freak occurance, there were a lot of reasons the fight went the way it did, that maybe a lot of people and even "experts" didn't count on before the fight
This fight, however, has less circumstantial elements, so it's simply who is better. And Pac is. By far.
I'm not saying a Hatton win is not within the realm of possibility, as this is boxing... It's mano e mano at the end of the day, and anything can happen. Underdogs triumphing is something of a regular occurance due to the nature of the sport.
Also, saying because 17/20 experts picked Hatton to lose, he's being given essentially 15% chance of winning is somewhat off, as it's not taking into account how confident they are in their picks and stuff
To be honest as boxing has proved for so many years now predictions are useless which is why the fights have to made! There's no coulda, woulda, shoulda like some poster has on his sig speakin of floyd but it applies to everyone! So i dont know why Hatton fans are bothered by this. My worthless opinion is that Pacquiao is too fast and improved his balance, timing so much that i dont see how Hatton wins! But on fight night Hatton has a chance to prove everyone wrong and im sure it would be even more sweet a win because literally almost nobody is giving him a chance except for mostly the british!
i agree, pac should come in as the favorite....p4p number 1, just beat future hall of famer...guy hasnt lost in over 4 years....it make sense he is the fav....but GO RICKY!
Can anybody else sense the incoming irony here?
Pacquiao was equally written off against DLH, with people claiming it to be a mismatch and he came out with an, albeit tainted, shock victory.
Now Pacquiao is the mass favourite to win this fight, with people claiming it to be a mismatch. You see whats coming next?

like it doesnt suprise me people are picking pacquiao....but remember most of teh "boxing experts" said de la hoya would beat manny...so now all these guys are just throwing conventional wisdom out the door.....let me stress once again conventional wisdom says hatton wins this fight....but they think the "rules" don't apply to pac
they must have been listening 2 freddy roaches bullshit
What's the alternative... listen to Mayweather Sr's bullshit instead?

I go with Pacquiao. Forgive me for stating what's been said about a 1,000 times by 1,000 people. But Pacquiao is quick, throws in combinations, has formidable power and has great stamina, heart, everything.
The reason why I wouldn't be completely awestruck if Hatton won is because Hatton is the natural at the weight. Add to that, Pacquiao is fighting a legitimate threat since fighting Marquez. He moved up in weight and beat Diaz, but the only reason he fought him was because of a belt and Diaz wasn't that big of a threat to begin with. Then there was Oscar at welterweight, who we all thought would win and turned out to get completely blown away. Not discrediting Pacquiao in any way, but Oscar wasn't a top 10 welterweight...great win, though because Pacquiao despite the weight showed he can still throw quick, swarming punches and potshot while circling away. He still looked impressive.
However, he's going to the 140-pound weight class, where he'll be facing THE central figure there. A guy whose only loss was OUTSIDE of that weight class against the best fighter nearly two years ago. Hatton may not be sleek in his offense or graceful in his fighting style, but you can't deny that a well-placed hook by him could easily hurt or floor Manny. This is Ricky Hatton, and despite his flaws, it would be stupid to say: Manny's gonna' blow him out of the water...EASILY. Sure, that could happen. But c'mon...if you think about it, Hatton has a chance.
Saying Pacquiao is gonna' steamroll Hatton would be as foolish as, I hate to say it, as having said Margarito would stop Mosley, or De la Hoya beats Manny.
I still lean towards the outcome of Pacquiao winning, just not in a dominating fashion as many are saying. It's kind of annoying. Still, if Pacquiao does get Hatton out of there quick, I'll be just stunned as I was when he beat De la Hoya...maybe more so.......and giddy with glee at the looming possibility of a Mayweather clash.
Pac will destroy him, the only way Hatton could possibly win is by grappling and hugging Pacman, but Pac won't get in that situation in the first place, he's too fast and too powerful.
This is just unheard of. I don't understand how a 50/50 fight is so lopsidedly in favor of one fighter in terms of boxing pundits' picks.
I do - people are sheep. These are the same guys who favoured ODLH over Pac Man.
Case closed really
Hatton was hurt twice by "The Hispanic Causin' Panic" of all people. Fighters with much less speed and power than Pacman have put Hatton on queer street, including Collazo. Pac has the speed and power to make Ricky see stars and lay him out.
Pacman by KO/TKO in 7 or less.

If Ricky wins (I doubt it) he should stare down them writers B-Hop style :lol1:
I do think Pac will win, but most of these so-called experts occasionally get it terribly wrong. Pac-Oscar, Hopkins-Pavlik, Calzaghe-Lacy, etc... their predictions were just awful. Ignore what they say, go with your own feeling on it. If you're wrong, so be it. But don't put too much stock in what these poeople say. Even pro fighters often get it wrong, yet there's regular fans on here who are much more accurate at calling the outcome of a fight. Makes me laugh. :)

This fight is not even close to being 50/50, I think Pac will dominate Hatton.
This fight is not 50/50. Pacman is clearly on another level. No disrespect to Ricky Hatton, great guy and great fighter, but he's going to get his arse kicked
this fight all comes down to the referee. if hatton is allowed to grapple, then hatton will win. if hatton is not allowed to grapple pac will win.
hence 50/50.
all the boxing experts are assuming that the ref will not allow hatton to grapple.
To me,it seems like everyone is forgetting that Hatton owns jww,I also think Pacman could be favored, but Hatton has a huge chance of winning,140 has belonged to Hatton ever since he destroyed Tysu,Its going to be a close 1 and I wouldnt be surprized if Hatton did win, there is no sence in judging Pacmans ability at 140 by what he did to Oscar, because that was a mere shell of the man!!
