Unbeaten Riverside heavyweight Chris Arreola predicted he'll enter the ring for his April 11 fight against Jameel McCline at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas at a svelte 240 pounds, or about 25 less than he did in his knockout triumph over Travis Walker in Ontario late last year.
At a news conference Monday, Arreola said, "I hate diets," -- insert punchline here -- explaining he's strictly "eating right" and found the replay of a knockdown he suffered at Walker's hands to be motivational.
"Once I got hit and dropped, I said, 'What ... am I doing here?' " Arreola said. "They're raising my hands up, my boobs are jiggling, and I'm thinking, 'I'm supposed to be an elite athlete.' I looked like a bum.
Now, it's time for me to step it up and prove to those who thought I was a plodding heavyweight or a West Coast hype job that I want to get to the promised land. Now, it's time to get there."
Arreola (26-0, 23 knockouts) said he's restricting his diet to healthy foods, and bicycling often along the Santa Ana River trail near his home.
He's readying for an HBO fight against a guy who's had three heavyweight title shots. The bout will be followed by the main event of Paul Williams vs. Winky Wright.

Seen it in his other fight video before he fought travis walker. The dude says it all the time, and he always says it after he wins a fight. He says he needs to get in better shape, but never seems to do that. He is like me tough in some ways except I'm not fat but I'm also addicted to eating unhealthy foods. I say I won't do it, but my will power is too weak for it.I think it is more of the opponents he is facing.. i dont think he feels he needs to lose weight until he fights someone like vitali.
when did he say that before? This is like the first time i heard him say that.
