is cotto scared of williams?

When the Boogie Man goes to sleep at night, he checks his closet and under his bed for Paul Williams. But no, I'm sure Cotto would fight him if given the chance. And even if he is scared, hell Michael Spinks was scared to death of Tyson, but he still managed to get in the ring with him.

Cotto is a beast and anyone who can't admit that is jealous because their favorite fighter is not Cotto. I like lots of boxers, but Cotto has a winner's mentality. Certain boxers have that like Calzaghe, who was more arrogant than Cotto would ever attempt to be yet you always had the feeling that Joe would pull it out down the stretch. Cotto has this focus about him that leads me to believe that he thinks he can beat anyone if he focuses and trains enough. He takes his time and studies the opponent in the ring then attacks, deciding the best punches to throw and how to throw them on the fly- I don't think he studies too much tape of the other guys- neither did Joe I believe. Anyway, Cotto would be one of the last people that I would call scared of anyone. His managers may have kept him from fighting certain fighters in pursuit of their own interests, but Cotto would have fought whomever they threw at him as mentioned in several posts already.

Cotto took Clottey, who is more dangerous in the welterweight division, without hesitation, I don't think he fears the top guys. Now, Paul should quit this up & down in weight business, sooner or later it will catch up with him.

no i dont think cotto is scared... i think a certain fighter with a "0" in his record who last fought @ 147 is the one who is scared so he abruptly & prematurely retired... like lennox... instead of settling the score with vitali, he escaped it through retirement...

No Cotto isn't scared of Williams. The problem is Arum is too busy hatin on Al Haymon & dosen't want to make the fight happen. Hopefully Cotto leaves Top Rank when his contract is up & I'm sure the fight will happen ASAP. I think Arum relizes Cotto might be leaving also & thats the only reason Clotty is finally getting a shot.

i think a guy who take on marg and clottey doesn't even remotely qualify as being someone who picks and chooses his fights ala hopkins. cotto took on marg when marg had the most feard fighter in the world tag, most fighters would haves stayed the hell away from him, then he goes and fight clottey! clottey is an awkward fighter stylistically and is tough as they come, he is imo the most under rated titleholder in boxing. the guy gave baldomir all sorts of problems, has a lethal left hook, a good chin and is a good puncher. cotto could have picked the green berto, or the good but not great collazo, heck hes a small WW and could have called ricky out and most people would have backed him saying hes a small WW himself. as for williams i think hes done with 147 i dont think he will be able to make the weight anymore without taking too much out of himself. i think if he had fought with cotto he would have beat him but it looks like we'll never know.
