That's just my opinion to be honest. I don't dislike him or anything. He's just hyped up a lot. While I think he has good talent, he just hasn't done much. He got beat by Calzaghe then he disappered. I know he has his mandatories and all that. I just don't see the big deal about him. He needs to step up and beat someone.
Yup, we Danes - who watch Kessler fight are nothing but stone age farmers and rednecks.. Actually i'm writing this messsage from the ass of a donkey..! Nigga please. :spank:
Are you wearing a hat with horns, too? ;)
I guess we all could agree that those match-ups are pretty good and that the odds in favor of one or the other is in the 60/40 range, so I don't think the view is grasped from another planet. Remember the talk here is who beats who. Not resumé. In that regard Hopkins beats the others by a landslide obviously.
Good point.
I get it up to this point. But surely Kessler's high share price in the wake of the Calzaghe defeat warranted an opponent of similar worth (with a warm-up match prior to shake off the cobwebs)?
If Kessler was ... say ... 23 I could accept the Sartison match. The belt would open up doors for his ambition. But Kessler's 30. He's running out of time. Right now he needs names more than he needs belts. Praise is transitory. That which he received in the wake of the Calzaghe match has all but seeped away and if he is serious about cracking the coconut he needs to make the best use of every last ounce of whatever remains. If he doesn't he'll have to start all over again and he's probably too old for that.
I still can't understand it. I mean, there are fighters who would kill for the opportunity he had 18+ months ago. Certainly, they would not have looked twice at Sartison.
If Sartison was the only fight available for Kessler he should have refused it and gone over to the states for a couple of months to keep his profile up. Make some noise. Annoy some big names. Anything but Sartison.
I pretty much agree. The Sartison choice was made because that gave him a belt. I guess the thinking was that the belt would help lure in some big names. It didn't so it's legit to speculate what would have happened if another path had been taken.
I guess if you live by the alphabetboys you die with the alphabet boys.
In short and schematically:
1: Kessler had handsurgery following the Calzaghe fight.
2: After that a fight with Miranda for the vacant WBA fell through for various reasons.
3: Then Kessler fought the no.3 ranked WBA contender for the WBA title.

It was said on here that he can beat everyone from 160-175. That alone tells me that he's overrated. Who has he beaten to make people believe that? According to some, he would be able to move up in weight and beat Hopkins and Dawson. That to me is a stupid thing to say.

Tito is overrated to but you don't see the puertoricans stop nutting over him when Tito lost like every big fight he ever was in except against vargas. And even mayorga beat vargas... And most people have oscar beating tito, but since Oscar fought like a bitch in the last couple of rounds, they gave the fight to tito which is fine with me because I'm not a fan of either tito or oscar.
What the hell does the that have to do with this thread?

Please show us where you think he's overrated. Bear in mind that the guy has one single loss to a likely ATG, at his hometurf, fighting with a broken hand. Consider also that the guy is a 3-time world champion. You can critisize his management or potential opponents for failure to get a fight made, but saying he's overrated... well show me some!

mhmm, yes i see, that seems like solid proof, case closed
I just said what had actually happened. Those are facts based on choices taken. I didn't defend anything. What's your problem?
you always mention the broken hand bullshit, and someone always proves you wrong, then you leave the thread, only to come back when everyone has forgotten about your post and it's about 5 pages behind.
:rofl::rofl:
Who has proven me wrong? Please show me.
I don't know what game Kessler is playing. He was given the golden opportunity of showcasing his skills to the major TV networks, took it (okay, he lost - but his performance was universally praised) and then vanished off the face of the earth.
It's total madness. By now he should have at least fought one of Taylor, Hopkins, Pavlik, Dawson or even Froch - perhaps two (as a headline fighter). Instead he's pissing his career away fighting nobodies to an audience of a farmer, his dog and two chickens.
There has to be an explanation. Does he have some kind of problem with fame? Is he reluctant to leave home? Has the Calzaghe defeat blown a fuse in his head?

2: After that a fight with Miranda for the vacant WBA fell through for various reasons.
3: Then Kessler fought the no.3 ranked WBA contender for the WBA title.
4: Kessler then made a mandatory defense.
5: After that a management dispute has kept him out of action.

well he is, post something factual which will change my mind?
hopkins is an atg fighter and clearly better than kessler in his prime but right now kessler can beat him, dawson is nothing special either.
And Kessler has beaten who that could make you think he would beat hopkins?
:ugh:
I thought yesterday when you said calzaghe had a better resume than mayweather, that was a one off.
Obviously not
