At this point it's clear the top two middleweights in the game are Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham. Alot of people have switched opinions on who would win after watching Kelly get beat by Bernard Hopkins by a wide margin.
Now everyone who's opinion changed, I wanna mainly speak to. You see Abraham knocking Kelly out at 160, I am assuming, because most polls show no one really thinks he's getting a decision against Pavlik. He's too inactive, and he's not Bernard Hopkins. But Kelly doesn't have a bitch chin. He took alot of punishment from a very in shape and game B-Hop and stood his ground. He has been knocked down before but has always gotten up. His conditioning is top-notch, especially at 160. Kelly will win either by KO, or by UD. Why? Because Kelly is a busy, come forward fighter fighting the shorter man. Much shorter than B-Hop. Abraham likes to fight in bursts:turtle shell defense, then bursts of power. But Kelly has taken the best punches of guys who fight like that. I'm talking Miranda and Taylor, guys who have if not more, at least as much power as Abraham(Taylor maybe slightly less but almost on the level). He will be able to deal with AA's outbursts. Furthermore, the time that AA rests on the ropes with his gloves up will not be as easy for him as has been in the past. Kelly knows how to deal with guys on the ropes as well as almost anyone in the game. Many of you forget that that's pretty much his bread and butter. And if any positives came out of the Rubio fight, it was Kelly's relentless work to the body, which ultimately made Rubio give up. So AA can sit on the ropes, but his ribs will take a beating, making him more tired than he would have otherwise been, making him ripe for a KO or UD. If you disagree or agree please comment.
He's an awkward fighter who no ones figured out yet. And the way Pavlik looked in his last fight, he gets destroyed if he comes in fighting like that.
He's Awkward cos he fights in his backyard, a country notorious for dodgy decisions, stands there covering up whilst getting hit with body shots the judges ain't gonna count. Granted, i havent seen him take many to the head and he does have real power, but when he comes out of his backyard and fights a mover, he might find himself in real trouble.
Nothing special at all.
Seriously f.uckin annoyed for two reasons
1) Had to force myself to sit through this Abraham-Simon crap to figure out why people are on this guy so hard, couldnt work it out during his last fight either.
2) The file was f.ucked and cut off in round 10, was a technically horrible fight anyways
Short of hitting hard, I dont see what's so great bout him, he's wide punching, has dodgy footwork, is static.
That standing in the ring covering up whilst the other guy fires shots at you, wont work in america, they give rounds like that to the other guy constantly.
Germany is a different ball game, some of the scoring ive seen come outta that place is just insane.
Its a pick em fight, i'd lean towards pavlik, just, if abraham keeps landing clean, thats probably a different ball game, but lateral movers give pavlik problems and abraham aint one of those.

Since when did Pavlik become such a big pussy who can't trade with solid punchers? I swear, that Hopkins fight has you all fooled as to this dude's potential.
I do agree on the fact that Pavlik will have to utilize his long jab to establish distance, since he is taller by a good margin, I believe. But Pavlik always uses his jab in every fight I've watched, so it's not really even worth pointing out.
I never said he couldn't trade with AA. I'm saying that if he does trade with him, he'll get ktfo. AA hits alot harder than Taylor.

There is no way Pavlik can just stand and trade or even counter AA. The only way he wins is by jabbing his way. If he tries to trade, they carry Pavlik out of the arena. The guy just doesn't have the movement or chin to withstand that kind of power.

anyone who saw abraham's last fight has to give the edge to pavlik, however neither pavlik or abraham are elite fighters imo.
abraham is weight drained, he was extremely tired in his last fight and has looked like that for a while, it's no coincidence his best performance was at 166 against miranda in the rematch.
Pavlik has a good chin so it is doubtful that Abraham will knock him out. All he needs to do for the win is out box Pavlik in the same fashion that Taylor did in the rematch. Abraham is faster and has better lateral movement than Pavlik. In any case if I were Pavlik's manager I wouldn't put him in the ring with Abraham. The money would not be worth the risk.
Sorry my friend but that is a horrible assesment. It is a risky fight for both and a fight worth seeing. True fight fans know that this is a pick-em bout.

it is amazing that you think that this fight would be so one sided that Pavlik's management shouldn't risk it. It proves you know jack shit about what you're talking about.
pav looked awful aganst Rubio, he is gona struggle to hurt Arthur and arthur is gon knock him out, this fights with his jaw hanging off he is super hard

Last time I checked Abraham's win over Miranda had nada to do with AA's great footwork and everything to do with the fact that he was fighting an immobile brawler who had become damaged goods courtesy of one Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik. Stop trying to convince me Abraham is fleet footed, that shit don't play here.
This is the truth. AA isn't anywhere near the pure boxer that even JT is, let alone Hopkins. The truth is that there isn't another Hopkins out there and I really think that is the only recipe to beat Pavlik.

abraham is far from a boxing type fighter.
Are you blind?
If Abraham's footwork was so bad then why couldn't Miranda lay a glove on him the second fight? Oh wait, I know - Miranda is shit!

exactly. Abraham has shit when it comes to footwork. he isn't gonna be outboxing Kelly. THIS is why Pavlik wins: Kelly will be throwing punches from all angles, all night, hoping enough get through that he KO's AA. If not, he gets a UD anyway.
Arthur, on the other hand, will be throwing combinations maybe 3 times a round, sitting on the ropes taking punishment, and hoping he hurts Kelly enough with them that he KO's him. If he can't catch him, he will lose, definitely. How can a man who knows he's gotta KO the other guy be the better boxer? When people have put pressure on AA, he hasn't looked very impressive, and you can put everything you got on this that Kelly would be putting the pressure on AA. Arthur is not Bernard Hopkins people.

Why didn't Pavlik KO Taylor the second fight? The correct answer is Taylor started boxing. As it happens many people thought Taylor won the rematch. If Abraham ever fights Pavlik you can be sure that he will put on his boxing shoes. In the mean time Pavlik had better learn how to deal with boxers.
