If he can get into shape, Johnson will likely win a few fights and make a little money before he's done.
He's old now, I don't think he will get too far. He would never have beaten Vitali that night even if he came into the fight in perfect shape. I think he would have at least lasted a few more rounds and made a good account of himself. He was just to small to compete with Vitali.
He could have definitely had a great career though as his talent was very good, but he was just too freaking lazy.
I think this comeback is due to him being broke as the money he got for suing the Halifax Police Department is probably dried up by now.
Kirk Johnson is making a comeback. His first fight since 2006 is April 4th.
He was such a wasted talent. No dedication but he had very nice skills. Coming in against Vitali at 260 lbs!LOL He is lucky he didn't get killed.
past guys were like George chuvalo, scotty olson, the vanderpools, the grants, dale brown.good old punching bag ken lakusta(fought many hw contenders in 80's&early 90's)bert cooper pretty much ended silver medalist willie dewitts career, eric Lucas.we've had some decent guys over the years considering the small scene

The only truly great Canadian fighter :FlagCanad
 never even heard of this guy ... he looks like he belongs in the wwe.
pascal is from Jamaica & ngoudjo Africa, alcine I think from somewhere in Africa as well
Pascal and Alcine ar both from Haiti, Ngoudjo from Cameroon. Pascal lives in Montreal since he's like 5 years old though.
Actually Bute speaks perfect french. He was just interviewed by the french commentator.
To answer your question i think it's because there are good trainers here in montreal and interbox is willing to give fighters a chance. But there are still some canadian fighters that were born here, Steve Molitor, Jean Pascal, Joachim Alcine, Eric Lucas, ect. Hell, Arturo Gatti was born and raised in montreal.
Jean Pascal and Joachim Alcine were not born in canada ... i think we dont have that much of a boxing culture anymore in canada except for in montreal so theres very few home grown fighters...
its a shame ... but wadda u gonna do.
bute speaks fluent French & has lived in Montreal for 10years.Montreal has one of the best scenes in the world.they put 20000 in stands for big fights.there are several world class trainers based in Montreal.stefan ledoux(bute&herman ngoudjo),the grant brothers(librado andrade),Otis grant fought Roy jones.joakim alcine, jean pascal, sebastien demers all fight out of Montreal.artiluro gatti fought & lived in Montreal for 10 years before he moved to Atlanta.many good fighters & many big fights happen there.Bradley/holt is there April 4.

Bute can't even speak English or French, guy only speaks Romanian.. what kind of Canadian fighter is that? :lol1:
All these? Please give me some more examples of these contenders that are actually called Canadian.. not just fighting out of Canada
