Lets put it this way by the third round I knew Jones was ****ed with a capital "F". I only gave him the first round. Calzaghe dominated the rest, the second round can be debated though.
Keep it civil you two, its not worth getting heated over this shit.
Bottom line is Psycadelic,
If you make a thread like this, expect the shit to hit the fan.
jones one round 1(a 10-8 round)
jones one round 2 also, clearly a 10-9 round(i mean if your not retarded, jones landed so many good punches, the better, the cleaner, the more powerful punches)
calzaghe took round 3 no doubt, tho jones landed some good shots, calzaghe made it look like there were shit, took them like a champ
round 4 understandable if you give it to either man, calzaghe did good in this round, jones took the last 40 seconds of the round though with some nice punches
round 5 jones(10-9), calzaghe was either hittin arms or back of the head, which he seems to do alot, and he drags his arms pulling/pushing the person around, but calzaghe did have a moment where he landed some good power punches
round 6(10-9), definitely jones, he did real good here, but that might've just been cause calzaghe was takin a break or somethin, seemed alot less active in this round
round 7, jones(10-9), i say personally, but i understand how you could give it to calzaghe cause you see jones cut, but really jones landed better and more, calzaghe landed a few
round 8, calzaghe(10-9), calzaghe effortlessly wins this round, not even many punches thrown, but landed the much better, much cleaner punches
round 9, calzaghe(10-9) continues a masterclass performance
round 10, calzaghe(10-9) though jones is again landing pretty well, calzaghe at one point had jones head moving like one of his bobble head action figures, and overall just landed more
round 11, calzaghe(10-9) jones landed ONE good punch, and i can't really remember but i think it was the only punch he did land
round 13, calzaghe(10-9) man, even though most of the time calzaghe looks like a ****in idiot when he ...... at the 49 mark down to somethin like the 44 mark that was pretty cool
103-103
113 for jones(if you gave him round 4)
113 for calzaghe(if you gave him round 4)
all in all, it was a draw
if you want to count open hand punches, aggresiveness(even if a punch does'nt land, it takes from the opponent) and budges along with hits on the back of the head, then calzaghe probabley took that win for you
i know alot of people will have differrent veiws on this, but i could'nt careless, im just sharing my veiw :poke:
LMAO u r an idiot
While there are many (such as myself) who scored Hopkins-Calzaghe for Hopkins 114-113, no one could claim to be seriously scoring this fight and have it for Jones. I don't even recall how I scored it, because it was unnecessary to do so.
end of story.
i have to admit, after watching it a 2nd time, the fight wasn't that much of a one-sided fight as i thought....
sure it was a calzaghe win obviously but jones landed more clean punches that i originally thought. the way people describe the fight, they make it sound like a gatti and mayweather type fight but it wasn't. jones landed his share of good punches.
i had jones ahead 57-56 after 6 rounds...and i gave him one of the later rounds....i'm sorry in some of the early rounds, i gave to jones because i thought he landed the cleaner, better shots. i just find it very hard to give credit to calzaghe for alot of that bullshit he does. (slapping gloves and forearms)...the fight wasn't a beating..more jones laying on the ropes..taking a million of calzaghe's crappy ass slappy flurries on his arms and getting outworked. altho he did get cut in either the 7th or the 8th.
but thats just my opinion. i had it 8-4 calzaghe plus the knockdown...but thats probably the best you could have it for jones...4 rounds at most.
to be honest, i think calzaghe's excessive taunting of jones made it look worse than it really was it times...aside from the punch that cut jones in round 7 ot 8 i think, calzaghe just really did not hand out that big of a phyical beating to jones. he threw alot of punches, but i just think alot of that shit landed on gloves and forearms.
i thought tarver and glen johnson's performances were more dominant and impressive than calzaghe's by far.
the fight however told me that jones in his prime, would have knock calzaghe the **** out in early in the fight.
i take it ur joking
Yep, 5 was close. I was thinking of round 6 earlier (with the big uppercut from Roy). Checked the video again and had trouble scoring it for either of them. Both had their good and bad moments.

Round 5 was definately close. I remember thinking it could have gone either way and in the end just favouring Joe. Bottom line though, you score more than 3 rounds to Jones in that fight and you just don't know the rules, simple as that.
but then again, if you watch the round, youd actually see that it wasn't the only punch roy landed and both men had their moments. it was a close round from what i remember that you could've given roy.
excuse my 8-4 card..thats acutally 9-3...i think i remembered calzaghe coasting the last round and that was pretty competitive as well after rounds 7-11 were calzaghe outworking jones...
Hmmm. I need to watch the fight again sometime. I'll get back to you after seeing it.

It was a great uppercut, but ultimately it had no effect, if I remember correctly? I didn't think that sole punch was enough to score the round to Roy.

round 5 was the round i was thinking..i think thats the round jones got in that big uppercut as calzaghe was coming in....but from like round 7 on..ALL calzaghe...i remember one of the last rounds being close aas well..maybe round 12? i dont know. but it really didnt become too one sided until round 7. thats what i rememeber...
It was a great uppercut, but ultimately it had no effect, if I remember corectly? It's hard to say this sole punch was enough to score the round to Roy. What's odd is that some of the guys here who are being generous to Roy (and that's cool, no complaints from me) by saying he was competitive from rounds 1-7 but it was all Joe from 8-12, well apparently Joe injured his hand in Round 7 (the punch that caused the cut), so I guess that's suggests he was actually not hitting as hard in the last 4 rounds.
It's funny how we all score fights!

Yeah the second half was horrible. I watched it with my brother and we pretty much just sat there in complete silence.
I scored the first two for him then the rest for Joe, but I believe the 5th was very close? I remember thinking that could have gone to Roy, so giving him 3 isn't that ridiculous.

It would be insanity to score it for jones... Having more then 3 rounds for him would be insanity... I think I had two rounds for Roy
Yeah, most definately.
Roy won the first round, 10-8. The rest was all scored to JC, but a portion of the second round could be scored for Roy. At the very least it was 10 rounds to 2 for Calzaghe.
Why are we having this conversation? LOL...
Oh yeah, somebody took a Daggum quote seriously.
Nobody -- and I mean nobody on the entire planet -- can score the fight to Roy or even give him more than 2 rounds. It was a straight-up embarrassment for him and should have been stopped somewhere around the 9th after he'd bled for the last couple.

I guess you were watching another fight, because in no way shape or form, Rioy won more than 1 round, let alone having him ahead after 3 rounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
so you don't even think roy jones COULDVE won round 2? a round where he seemed to land the cleaner punches? sorry dude, i'm in no way saying jones won because only a fool and a biased jones fan would think jones won that fight. i mean he just flat out lost a WIDE decision, no question. im just saying, it wasnt as one sided as i originally thought and i actually think you couldve had jones winning 3 of the first 6 rounds. 3 or 4 rounds is the best you could give him.
or maybe i just really despise calzaghe's style of amateurish slaps to forearms and gloves that i don't give him credit for it at times.
watch the fight again dude..jones was landing his share of clean punches the first 6 rounds of that fight. it wasn't a complete wipeout.
