I believe that tony has no chance at beating cotto next year when a rematch is almost certain to happen.... a few reasons that come to mind are...
1) inactivity- going a year without fighting any real good opponants is going to hurt tony alot, even if if does get a fight or two in mexico i question the quality of them...
2) weight gain- tony is bound to put on a few pounds during the time off. it is said that tony had no problem making weight against mosley, but if you ask me he looked very dried out like he had to train his ass off and completly drain himself to make weight for the fight, dont see it being any easier during his time off.
3) mental strength- Tony just got brutaly knocked out in front of an all most 100% pro tony crowed. Is he questioning his chin now? Does he still feel he can take thoes punches from the likes of cotto mosley and williams? does he feel more vonerable? only tony can answer these questions, and it will be interesting to see the answer.
4) plaster wraps- tonys past fights are now being called into question. im not gunna say tony used them in the cotto fight, (tho it is very likely) only tony and his trainer know the answer. but IF he did he has to know that cotto will be much stronger later in the fight like he was in the beggining when he flat out dominated.
5) Tony is exposed- now thanks to shane every fighter knows what they have to do in order to beat tony. pretty much what cotto did in the first fight but just stay off the ropes and hold at times. You knoiw team cotto will have that in their game plan when they fight again
6) Pissed off Cotto- With cottos fight tainted we all know how truely pissed cotto is on the inside. when they fight again cotto is comming not to just beat him, but to take his sole also. I wouldnt want to fight a pissed off cotto.
So have fun tony.....

#1 - I agree, inactivity would be the biggest obstacle for him.
#2 - I don't think this would be a big problem, Tony has a great work ethic and he would be ready to fight.
#3 - Tony is very strong mentally, he has lost before and has had to take the long road to the top. Where he comes from and what he has done in his life, I don't think his mental fortitude is something that needs questioning.
#4 - Did he use them? We will never know. Like I said before though, the wraps werent' on his chin and he took everything Cotto dished out.
#5 - Exposed? lol you are assuming Cotto can do what Mosley did, they are two different fighters. Styles make fights and I don't think that boxing is like football or basketball where you can just adopt the same game plan and think your fighter can execute it.
#6 - Take his sole? He's going to take his shoes? Getting mad isn't going to help anyone, being smart and fighting your fight is what wins.
I think Marg's career is done to be honest. The layoff will be too much for him and the type of fighter he is, that style doesn't last long. I would be very suprised if he could come back from this but I wouldn't put it passed him.
 Can you imagine a boxing analyst using that as one of the reasons why Margarito might lose a rematch? LOL
That would make my day.
Brian Kenny: "So Dan...what about this rematch between Cotto and Margarito?"
Dan Rafael: "Well, Brian...here's the thing. Well, first of all, he's going to have to deal with a pissed off Cotto."
ok so one of my reasons may not be a great one but to hell with it i thought id throw it in just for shitz n gigglez
although ive disowned tony as a fan, this doesnt change the fact that tony made miguel change his last name from "cotto" to "jotto" back in July. No one TRULY knows whether or not he used illegal wraps but its definitely not out of the question.
