back when they fought 1993 was a long time ago, then at 1 point they had on and off talks for a mega fight which was always talked about, then roy moved up to heavy beat up ruiz, then roy lost to tarver, Hopkins killed tarver. But honestly if they laced them Up today hopkins would bust up roy jones worse then calzaghe did, I think Hopkins would KO roy without a doubt. and hes 43 and hes still better then jones jr.
In 1993 when they fought it was a close fight..both improved over time..but i think hopkins had to improve more..he is much better fundamentally and is alot smarter..i belive from 2000-present hopkins wins hands down
let's look at it this way, when Zab fought Cory Spinks - Spinks got paid 1 million Zab 100,000, but he took the fight any. he knew he would win. Roy was the champ and P4P champ and owned a win over Hopkins, why would he split 50/50 with Hopkins. If Hopkins was so sure of himself why didn't he just take the fight and take the belt like Judah did. makes since to me.

hopkins fought WW and he is better then Roy, name Hopkins best win
what fight did you watch??it was a close fight..jones in no way whooped hopkins
the only times hopkins looked effective in that fight was when he got jones on the ropes and that didn't last long enough where he could get in some hard shots either
hopkins had no answer for his speed.Like I said he didn't beat hopkins up or whoop him but based on judging round by round. He easily took the decision
I have scored that fight plenty of times and I get nothing other than 8 rounds to 4 in favour of Jones. I believe if he wasn't injured he would have almost won a shutout. They were a fair way apart at that point in their careers.
watch the roy jones beyond the glory.I just watched it last night on youtube.his athleticism and relexes were the result of hard training as a boy
his father would make him spar guys with one hand tied behind his back
That kind of freakish athleticism isn't just some god given talent.Nothing is
Roys father used to beat him into shape, similar to what Floyd Senior did to his son. These fighters may make it seem as if it was all effortless but the truth is they worked to some degree even harder than most fighters.

really you thought it was a close fight? In terms of rounds I gave hopkins two, maybe three at best(and that is being kind)
it wasn't an easy fight by any means in terms of that fight itself.but based on the rounds jones won rather easily
I love that Hopkins rose to the top on smarts and hard-learned technique as opposed to Jones who genetically had his otherworldly athleticism handed to him on a plate

THat a terrible lie..actually watch the fight and stop repeating what others say
It actually isn't that terrible a lie. Jones may not have been completely one-handed but he was certainly badly troubled throughout the fight and relying heavily on his left.
Prime 4 prime Hopkins KO`s Roy.
Roy spent hid prime fighting bums, Hopkind fought the best (Oscar, Tito dont count)
1996-2009 Jones vs Hopkins?!?!? Jones loses big!
why does oscar count and trinidad doesn't?

all time, it depends on your preference...
today hopkins would KO rjj though.

I'd be careful there. It is almost as if you are implying Roy didn't need to work hard to get where he did, which would be rubbish.

I don't agree with this. You could mount an argument for Bernard managing to win a decision over Roy in their respective primes (which I don't think he would have) but no way in hell is Bernard knocking him out. Not only was Roy's chin substantially better in his prime but his movement and reflexes were such that he barely ever got it and BHop never possessed that one punch power that would have been necessary to stop Roy.
I think a prime on prime matchup between the two would have gone in a pretty similar direction to the way their actual fight went. A cagey affair with Roy's superior athleticism winning the day for him. Now? I think BHop either wins and easy decision over or stops Roy. Jones is just shot.

Jones has more boxing milage than Hopkins even though he's younger, Hopkins is also a freak of nature and 110% commited, lived the right lifestyle and was blessed with great genetics so he hasn't aged much at all. Jones has very limited boxing fundamentals so once his physical abilities diminshed he was never going to be elite. He was always overrated anyway because of his spectacluar wins over bin men and taxi drivers but that's another story.
I agree with you 100%.
