This doesn't change the magnitude of the fight, but redemption is now standing across the ring from Juan Diaz, who can reclaim the unified titles he lost Campbell.
i dont think manny would move back to 135. he'd either stay at 140 or 147 so basically, diaz-marquez winner has to climb up to fight manny in case he win.
I guess this is a good thing, but JMM already has the Ring belt, so everything else is just extra for these guys.
Exactly, this is a real Championship fight, the little trinkets dont matter.
Believe me they dont care of these belts are on the line. They want to win the ring belt to propel themselves to multi million dollar paydays against pacquiao or hatton
When Campbell had these belts, they meant nothing to these guys. Now that he doesn't, they want to fight for them. Intriguing.
I haven't exactly heard these guys plead to the organizations to make this fight for the vacant belt.
It's the biggest money fight, of course the organizations want to get in on it... I don't think it has much to do with the fighters' wishes.
I thought agreeing to fight for one sanctioning body belt took you out of the rankings for all of the others. I have never heard of 2 vacancies being filled with one fight.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
I'm not absolutely positive, but I think the rule is that if you become a champion in one organization you can no longer be ranked in any other. I don't think there's anything prohibiting two organizations from recognizing the same fight as a fight for their vacant titles.
I think the most ridiculous thing about this is that the WBA waited until the WBO agreed to sanction this fight before they agreed to sanction this fight for the vacant WBA "Super" title. Because the WBA title is not vacant. Paulus Moses holds the regular title. But the WBA can't bypass him. It had to wait until another organization recognized it before it could fill it's super title "vacancy" because a fighter must also hold another title before he can be recognized as a WBA "Super" champion.

The belts at stake don't add anything to this fight. The only thing that ever got me down about this fight was that Campbell deserved the fight with Marquez more than Diaz. But even then it was still 1 vs 3 in the division. Once it became clear that Campbell was moving up to 140 that turned it into 1 vs 2 at 135.
The only thing that adding these belts to the equation does is that it means the winner will have mandatories to fulfill over the next 12 months. If it's the Khan-MAB winner that's cool. But I couldn't care less about this Paulus guy.
