I think he DEFINITELY suspects, possibly is even sold on the idea, that Margarito used wraps in his fight. He has even said things where he didnt come right out and say it... but you get the general idea of what hes saying...
Question: Capatillo admitted to what he did but Margarito has declared himself innocent of any wrongdoing, do you feel that’s correct?
Miguel Cotto: All I know is that when everybody gets their hands wrapped we know what’s in them. Every boxer knows if there is something different in their hands or not.
And I think, as a fighter, you would know if you have anything in there or not.
Miguel Cotto: I'd like to think he fought me in the clean way. He didn't use anything and he just had a good night against me and he beat me," Cotto said. You saw my face. I had a lot of swelling. But the only who can answer this question is Margarito himself.
I think that Cotto feels uplifted and not so down on his loss, because I think in A LOT of peoples eyes, that win is possibly tainted.
Can we prove it? Of course not.
Can we just dismiss it, and not think about it? Of course not.
In that light, I feel the win is tainted... Not technically, but in the minds of alot of fans... If you were ever going to use wraps it would be in the biggest fight of your life against Miguel Cotto.... not a 37 year old Shane Mosley.
And it wasn't even the commission that caughtt him in the first place, it was Bernards trainer, Nazeem. So the commission never caught the cheating in the FIRST PLACE.
I feel like Cotto has possibly been forgiven for his last loss in the minds of a lot of people around here, and I feel like I am one of them.
You can't prove it, but you can't dismiss it.
Why would that make him want to fire Evangelista?
I think what he means is that he believes Evangelista was there watching when Capetillo wrapped his hands before the fight against his nephew and was unable to detect foul play unlike Nazeem Richardson. I'm sure from now on his camp will be paranoid throughout the rest of his career. They learned their lesson the hard way...
so is cotto going to fire evangilista and sue the nevada commission for allowing margarito to fight with illegal wraps?

Cotto's shown some class by not talkin shit and goin overboard wit it, but anytime you have some cause to think your loss wasn't clean it would give you some renewed confidence.
Yeah hes barely talked about.

Agreed, well said... I don't need to give it any further explanation because you had it pretty much spot on there!
not only has it uplifted cotto and his confidence, it has uplifted his fans and their confidence... even to the point of annoyance sometimes.
Well, its huge news, and it's also shocking... and brings about alot of questions and new angles regarding the situation, so I suppose I would understand and anticipate that.
I've been sayin this from day one.
Even if Margarito didn't use the gloves which is entirely possible...just the idea that maybe he did gives Cotto confidence. That and the fact that Mosley just beat the shit out of Tony and Cotto beat Shane. We all know that the triangle theories don't mean shit, but fighters look at shit that way. Just think about what Pavlik was saying after losing to Hopkins about Taylor.
All of this gave Cotto new found confidence, there's zero doubt in my mind. And it really doesn't matter if Tony did or didn't because any doubt in it is good for Cotto's psyche.
