Who thinks Calzaghe is the toughest fighter of all time?

There is undoubtedly a lot of American bias in boxing though. Bias towards fighters because they come from your country really annoys me, whether its Mexican fans, US fans or British fans I bloody love it. Although I admire your reasonable, realistic view.

Of course, there's plenty of idiots from Europe on here, for example the one who started this thread. But there's also plenty of unbiased fans too. Each country/continent has their biased nuthuggers, including the US. There is the common misconception that you aren't a good fighter unless you've fought in America. That is the biggest bias towards American fighters I was referring to. A good fighter:? I don't think anyone believes that. However, it's a common sense call. Nearly all great fighters from around the world come to the US to fight. Why? Money. Exposure. It's a little strange when they don't. And let's face it, the journeymen in Denmark, for instance...suck. A lot worse than the ones in Mexico, or the US. That's not a bias towards American fighters...look at the top ten pound for pound. Almost none of them are from the US but nearly all fight IN the US.

And that's simply because the US is not one race...too many for unity. On these boards you can forget it. There is a huge Euro slant by posters from that side of the pond. I mean HUGE. It's disgusting. In the middle of some good debates someone (who usually has no other retort) will shout, "You Americans blah blah blah."

What has Welsh got to do with it? I like Calzaghe, but I'm not an idiot. It has a lot to do with it. Don't you know the ones who always complain about American bias are the most nationalistic? Don't you know you're supposed to disregard common sense for patriotism? It's called the George Bush way...popularized by a fool, followed by more of his kind. Only on these boards, it's usually from overseas.

Yep, Alan Minter sure looked tough against Marvin Hagler in Wembley when he was cut inside the first 60 seconds of the fight and looked even tougher in Round 3 when the was TKO'd. Being cut doesn't mean you're not tough, neither does being TKOed. I thought u were Welsh anyway.

LOL the same Ben Tackie who got killed by the Hattons? British fighters are the toughest by faaar.the same guy who is a walking punchbag and has never been on teh canvas in his career and who ricky famously said "the man has a head made of stone" that Ben Tackie. I figured tough was about being able to take shots/pain and carry on, Tackie has never even come close to being stopped and he's been in with prime Tzsyu, Hatton, Mitchell, Holt. The mans a beast.

Haha yep. Before the start of the Scypion fight (I think), Minter is being interviewed about Hagler. He tries to claim that he caught and wobbled Hagler with a peace of a left hook in round 2!!! He's definately a candidate. It depends how you define 'tough' I suppose. Would you rank fighters on chin or heart? Or both? LaMotta would be a good shout. As would Ali. The guy in your avatar would be a candidate

Of modern fighters Ben Tackie and big Danny Williams are definately tougher. Danny won a fight once during which his shoulder dislocated twice and the round he KO'd his opponent it dropped out about 10 seconds into the round.
