Why doesnt anyone give ricky hatton credit for callazo?

Hatton deserves his props for the Collazo fight. I had no problem wit that decision.

I was just thinking why people give andre berto credit for beating collazo while ricky hatton fought a better version collazo for the wba belt and he was the smaller man and won? How did Hatton beat a better version of Collazo? Collazo that fought Berto fought harder, because he didn't wanna leave it up to the judges again. If Hatton had not scored a knockdown the fight could gone to Collazo. I thought Berto undoubtedly won the fight, although i admit it was competitive

I may be being sarcastic but there were plenty of threads made about Collazo being robed by Berto. no their were, I agree. The Collazo pity train was in full effect post Berto fight. ALL ABOARD ....... next stop a title fight vs Clottey and another close loss to be bitched about.

At the time, most people thought Hatton won a close fight, although he didn't look good in the last couple of rounds. Max Kellerman lied when he said "most people thought Collazo won" - truth is, most people scored it for Hatton, and he knows that. look at the face's of his parents and corner man before the decision and tell me that they thought that Ricky won the fight. No one thought that Ricky won the fight.

People... Almost knocking someone down in the late stages of a fight.. does not seal a win, if you lost 7-8 of the 1st 10 rounds.. I know that fight ended not so good for Hatton.. BUT fights are 12 rounds.. and Hatton won more rounds than Collazo.. even if Collazo won his rounds More impressively.. Even winning the latter stages of a fight .. can't erase what happened earlier... (see Williams Margarito).. Hatton Collazo has always been a fair decision.. except for those who don't like Hatton.. or those whose pride was stung when they picked wrong.. lol exactly what i was thinking i mean ok give berto creds for the win fair dues but i dont see why hatton doesnt deserve any plus berto looked worse against collazo then hatton did.

It was a very tough close and competitive fight, which i think is more than what most people figured they were probably getting in the American reintroduction from Hatton. I think Collazo was pretty impressive as he adjusted nicely throughout the parts of the fight to a very difficult style (which is Hattons hallmark). I thought the decision was right as the knockdown from Hatton was enough to give him the decision in a fight that could have easily been a draw. Hatton did carry the pace of the fight for much of the night and although he is not a clean fighter, that is a byproduct of the style he fights. You cant really fight in close quarters for the majority of the time and be squeaky clean. Worrying about it from Collazo may have lost him the fight as he wasn't protecting himself when he got dropped early on.

Insecure? nah,he didnt look good at all in that fight but the result was never in doubt.he won it fairly,he just struggled like f.uck doing it,and collazo is a tough tough fighter I am glad you realize Collazo is tough fighter and it wasn't just Hatton being uncomfortable at 147:boxing:

Even Hatton's own fans dont give him a lot of credit for that fight because if they go one claiming Hatton won that fight decisively, then it gives Mayweather more credit for beating Hatton who, by Hatton fan admission, could very well fight at 147. I scored it for Collazo regardless and Hatton looked unimpressive.

You know how the brit haters love to hate. His owns fans degrade Collazo and the win..... Insecurity at it's best.

Hatton's own fans don't give him credit for that win...... They claim it proves he is not fit to be at 147 because he didn't dominate Callazo. The truth is Luis will always be a handful for any fighter in that division. Even a naturally big, gifted welterweight in Berto struggled with him throughout the fight. Before he broke his thumb Mosley also was facing resistance from Luis. He is an awkward southpaw with a high work rate that would of caused the same problems for Hatton at Jr Welterweight IMO.

same can be said about berto Same is said about Berto...however I personally scored the fight to Berto.

Because Hatton wasn't very impressive against Collazo and arguably lost. same can be said about berto

I always thought that was one of Hatton's best win to be honest. It was close but that early knockdown helped him edge the fight, to me anyways. I think it has to do with people saying Hatton is not a 147 pound fighter though, because if he can beat Collazo at 147 (although it was a close fight and Collazo was comming on hard at the end) that means he is not a terrible 147 pound fighter. Or people just do not respect Collazo as much as they possibly should.
