Although cotto is not the undisputed champion like tyson was he's still the strongest force argueably in the welterweight division, and jennings is an unknown underdog who most people wouldnt give a chance of winning.
So if he ends up K.Oing cotto (v unlikely but still..) would it be as shocking as douglas K.O'ing tyson?
actually cotto was already scheduled to fight margo in june so he was overlooking jennings from the jump, but I dont think it will matter anyways (as jennings IS from the UK).
you can't say he was.theirs no way of knowing that unless you know what's going on in his head.he's yet to fight jennings.if he looks bad, it's very likely he was, or the fight with marga took alot out of him.could be both.
I have seen Michael fight a few times. Like what others have mentioned, he is a very good technical boxer. However, he has limited power and, in my opinion, his power will not get the respect of Cotto.
Technically, Jennings can induce a headache in Cotto, but if Cotto continues to walk him down all night, walking through his punches and landing punishing ones of his own I can see a TKO or corner retirement at about the halfway mark.
If Jennings had the power to make Cotto think twice about scrapping with him, he would actually have a good...no, decent chance of out pointing Cotto. However, the reality is that while Jennings may be a good boxer, he isn't elite like Cotto, and consequently never faced anyone of his level before.
I think Jennings will do better than most give him credit for, but i can really see a corner retirement after round 6 when it has already become apparent that he isn't going to be able to knock Miguel out, or outpoint him for that matter.
he's coming off of a loss.he can't over look any one unless he is an idiot.
which i don't think he is.

ummm Mike Tyson was undefeated and a 40-1 favorite against Douglas.
Cotto is a guy who just got knocked out in his last fight. It's an upset but not a huge one by any stretch.
yeah... cotto was made to quit in his last fight so an upset is not as big as the tyspn/douglass upset.
ok maybe i got carried away, although tyson was looking ahead to holyfield, like cotto is looking ahead to mosley/margarito rematch
Could history repeat? :boxing:

Although Tyson had problems out of the ring coming into the Douglas fight he wasn't coming off a devastating KO loss in a fight he took alot of punishment in, possibly from loaded gloves.....Cotto could be damaged goods (although I seriously doubt that) so it wouldn't be as shocking to me as Douglas beating Tyson was.....But thats just my take.
Not quite that big but big the only thing that makes the fight even remotley winnable for Gio is that Cotto might be ruined after the loaded gloves beating he took! Tho i doubt it
