Hey Larrx , Floyd is not really a confident fighter is he ? i mean some people act confident and some people are confident, but Floyd reminds me of a guy that is not naturally confident. I think thats why he steps aways from challenges, because he does not have full confidence in himself, although he has great enough ability to be as confident as anyone. I mean see how pensive Floyd was when he stepped into the ring against Hatton? he looked like the occasion was too big for him and when the fight started they were telling him to relax. See how relieved Floyd was when he won?
Vic Darchinyan is naturally confident. Naseem Hamed WAS naturally confident, i dont believe Floyd is.
What do you think:boxing:
I disagree...Mayweather is a really confident fighter, he may have looked weird against Hatton but I think it was because he didn't expect that kind of pressure.
What?
Was he out the night Hatton fought Tszyu?
Arent all fighters relieved when the fight is over? He won by knockout, not going the distance. Going the distance is relief
Yes, I'm sure they are relieved, but Mayweather changed dramatically after the fight, more so than most other fighters tend to show. He turned into a nice dude! I just remember thinking "why can't he always be like this?"
I like that version of Floyd. I'd like to think he's like this all the time when the camera's are not focusing on him.

You could be right and I might be misinterpreting things. On the other hand, he is only human. There has to be times in his career when the possibility of losing has crossed his mind. A small amount of fear is normal, not saying he's terrified, but just a little bit of doubt may have crept up on him. And like DK said, he looked amazing relieved when the Hatton fight was over. Even my girlfriend commented on this after the fight, saying how happy he looked that it was all over and done with.
My boy said he looked like a Senior after graduation. I think he already knew he was taking a long layoff.

Man you killing me, just stop lol
dynamite kid..you are obsessed with your floyd hate...most people like you are just hurt floyd fans..its ok just repeat after me..i love floyd
To be fair, I didn't get the impression DK was posting a hate thread. This seems like a normal discussion to me. If it was the usual kind of hate thread I wouldn't even have taken part in it.

He doesn't give me the impression he is confident at all. He fights tentively too even when he has his man well under. I put that down to a lack of confidence that he can win and still take a little bit more of a chance etc.
I know you will put it down to use his defensive nature, but personally dont see it like that at all.
I get what your saying but it depends on what point in time your talking about. At 154 against Oscar he was very cautious. Prior to that maybe the Baldomir fight was similar tactics. Anything from Judah and before I think he was pretty aggressive. When he goes into the shell he is hard to hit but he has fought aggressive besides the fights mentioned. It sounds more like you are talking about a Winky Wright type of fighter. I always felt Winky could do more damage being a little more aggressive but he tends to keep up the heavy defense even when his opponent is overwhelmed.
as you see mangler it isnt me..the floyd bashers bring him up..and call me a hugger for defending him...
This thread is for you to show us more of your skills son.
I don't think so. Floyd's been fighting for over 15 years. I think its natural to him. He's been doing it all his life. I don't think he gets butterflies. I think when a camera is in his face he freezes up though.

I have notice that. when he wins is like: I did, I made it, I survived.

I think you need to go back and watch more Mayweather fights. This guy always has his game face on, same old expression every fight. This guy claims victory before the fight even starts. He's faced tough challengers. I hope you're not basing his lack of confidence because he didnt fight Cotto nor Margarito
Naw he didn't seem afraid to me but he wasn't about messing up his money doing something stupid either. Are you just talking about the Hatton fight? Because like I mentioned the Oscar fight was a bigger deal and Oscar was the bigger guy and even though Oscar may have confidence issues Floyd certainly didn't in that fight. Prior to those two fights to me Floyd has always seemed poised. Even when he was fight JLC the first time he was all smiles and some people had him down in the cards at that point. He also did like a excited jump for Joy after a tough round with Corley in witch I thought Corely might have hurt him. I think its more focus than anything. I do think he is super sensitive though and hates being criticized and that makes him super defensive and maybe standoffish to some. I think its a separate issue.

Remember the weigh in too Hatton vs Mayweather where Ricky started pushing up on Floyd he looked scared to me did he you?
I don't think he looked 100% confident, no. I often have a hard time telling who's confident at face-off's, to be honest. Although I thought Bernard looked a bit put off by Calzaghe's confidence at theirs when Calz' was grinning right in his face like a demented Dartmoor escapee.

I dunno man, I wouldn't be too sure about that. His defensive style doesn't exude confidence to me.
Like DK said, Oscar seemingly lacks confidence, too. I believe this is probably true, and I've seen Roach mention it.

Larryx must be in the mountains of mexico training in the thin altitude. getting lean and mean. ready to post up a storm of uncapitlalized magic.

Larryx ducking this thread like his hero ducks challenges.
