I was just wondering, does it have to do with the fighter you support? Only reason I ask, is cause if you support a mexican fighter, you just have to be mexican(to some posters), if you like a rican fighter, you just have to be rican(to some posters), if you like black fighters, you just have to be black(to some posters)...
I love boxing, and could care less what race or whatever a fighter is. Am I alone is this?
I just see that alot of attention is directed at race in most post and by most posters. I have been called mexican(on this site and others) just for supporting Margarito...does it really matter?
Margarito is my current favorite fighter, and I support him to the fullest. Not to change the topic, but that will change if he is found guilty, only cause I don't support cheaters.
I'm a Black Man, just in case no one knew, but my current favorite is mexican. Is that wrong?
This Topic: has really nothing to do with anything. I'm just at work bored out of my mind, and as I went through alot of old topics, I see that race is a huge deal on this site. So does anyone else support, or have a favorite fighter that is not of the same race? Also, do you even care about race, or just the sport of boxing?....
Too many idiots on here who thinks the picture in your avatar/sig represents you..
That is also a very good point. I have noticed that also.
On A Side Note: That Skills Pays Tha Bills guy always has a bad bird in his avi.
good post. i agree race is a big topic on this site.
as for myself,
i am Filipino. is Manny Pacquiao my favorite fighter? No, he's my 2nd favorite. A puerto rican (Cotto) is my favorite fighter today. Followed by Pacquiao, then Juan M. Marquez.
I am white, and if you look at the list of fighters I support, you will see they are all over the spectrum.
No doubt.
I have become a huge Darchinyan fan as of late(was a fan even when he was KO'ed), he has bounced back nicely.
I don't see the Vic/Arce fight going more than three rounds. I feel Vic has to much speed, and power for him. Plus he throws the much straighter punches.
Vic by KO
I think the bigger problem is that your screen name is handspeed and your favorite fighter has none. :lol1:
JOKING.
EDIT: ****, I apparently got to this joke wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too late.
It's not intentional... I do it on accident at times... it's subconscious. When you see someone who has a Chad Dawson avatar, you associate them with that avatar, because it is the first thing you see to identify them as a poster. A lot of people on here think I'm black, because I have had a history of liking black fighters. Recently, my favorites have expanded to include a Mexican and a PR...
So people may see me as a half black, quarter Mexican, quarter PR guy, when in reality, I'm a white guy. Funny how that shit works.
Either way, don't blame people for it... it's not intentional, it's just subconscious association that most people don't even realize is happening.
Yeah you did(Lmao), but it's all good.
I guess I was just on my :soapbox:

Unless you make it known what your race is. People will assume your race based on which fighters you support. It's just the way this forum is.

I support a sweet mullet. Is that a race?
I'm Mexican and I rooted for Vic to beat Mijares, and I'll be rooting for him to beat Arce as well.
Boxing fans are just that, boxing fans,
not fighter fans.
There are too many race and nationality cheerleaders, as well as too many guys who don't follow the sport, they follow one fighter. It makes for some terrible discussion sometimes.
For me I always try to support and watch Mexican fighters because i am Mexican american (With the exception of Margarito cause his fights r boring) but I do like fighters of different ethnicities such as Hatton, Hopkins, Pavlik, Donaire, etc. I even like to watch Mayweather fight
Your name is handspeed and u like margarito...did I miss something
Yes you did miss something. Margarito is my current favorite. Many of my favorites had handspeed.
Plus it's just a name, don't be so :lame:
