Nahh, Gomez doesn't have the tools or the ring savvy to pull off an upset of that magnitude.
I disagree. I think he is one of a few athletes to have the tools to pull off the upset. He has skills.
All that's required again is a slightly bad/off night for Vitali and for Gomez to be performing at his best. Gomez is an underrated fighter.
I am not sure Hopkins Pavlik was an Upset.. at least I don't view it as one..
It may happen, but it's very unlikely, Gomez would have to be on his special night and be lucky to catch Vitali on a bad one or suffering an injury during the bout.
I do agree that Gomez is underrated though.
vitally is old as fukk and a half decent HW would do to him what mosley did to margo
lol,,,list some names of these half descent heavyweights. cant wait to hear your answer. sam peter maybe? :oh:
Unlike Pavlik and Marg, Vitali is experienced against all kinds of styles, and he's prepared for everything, he's seen it all. Vitali rarely loses a round, while Pavlik and Marg have the 'take 2 hit 1' mentality, at least against top competition.
I wasn't making a head-to-head comparison. Margarito and Pavlik are different fighter, Yes. Simply a observation that just when nobody gives a very good fighter (for whatever reason) who is u underdog a chance.....he scores the upset.
Hopkins > pacquiao > Mosley
And Vitali hasn't seen anything like Gomez. Gomez is a fast, slick cruiserweight turned heavyweight. If Gomez is anything like he was 3 years ago when he put on a boxing exhibition on HBO aganst Sinan Samil Sam....Vitali better be worried unstead of overlooking this guy.
I get the feeling by reading the press reports, that Vitali seems like he's looking past Gomez to a possible unification bout with Valuev....
Also, Paul, have you heard anything about Gomez's training camp?
Not a lot, just that he was sparring Andrei Arlovski.
Vitali despite possessing a solid chin knows the meaning of defense. He generally smacks his opponents with 3-4 shots before taking one and rarely loses a round. Totally different mindset. He's closer to PBF then either Margarito or Pavlik.
