The reason why I say this is because I think Mayorga has more left in the tank than people think. Wasn't he weight drained against DLH? I do NOT think this affected the eventual outcome of the fight.
But against Mosley everyone thought Mosley was old and he showed last weekend that he isn't. I just think Mayorga is a ****ing very physically strong guy. Plus didnt he come in at 170-180 lbs on fight night against Mosley?
BTW I am rooting heavily for Angulo I think the boys special.
He's been knocked out by A level guys though.
Mayorga has always been a good B level fighter though.
There is no shame in losing to Trinidad, De La Hoya and Mosley.
I'm a fan of Mayorga but his age and the punishment he's taken..
I dunno if he'll have it still in him.
I'm a have to rewatch their latest fights before I can add a prediction.
That right there is the reason why I just don't see him winning this fight. Angulo is in his mid 20s, a rough fighter and hasn't taken anywhere near as much punishment as Mayorga. This will probably be a battle of attrition and Mayorga probably won't bring as much to the party. I see a close fight early, some distance in the middle and a beatdown late for Angulo.
i love Mayorga, i hope he still has a couple of years in him. His mouth is awesome to, not in the annoying Floyd way but in the Way over the Top mode like Ali in some ways
Mayorga can make anybody look like a fool in the ring. Look what he did to Mosley the entire fight!!!!!!!!
Yeah its true, he looked pretty good in that fight until he got shut down. He didnt look bad in the Vargas fight either. If Mayorga were going up against some random 14 fight prospect, especially one without a big punch, I would choose pick him in a heartbeat.
The thing is I dont think people see how special Perro is, not yet anyway. He's a serious talent and legit threat to the division. Also Angulo has an inside style that could smother Mayorga's wide bombs from the outside.
Yeah Mayorga is a bit shopworn, and at an age disadvantage, but Angulo's style is what wins him this fight IMO.
Angulo has never faced a power puncher with such an awkward style like Mayorga. Somebody will get knocked out, but I am still not completely sure who. If I was Angulo, I would prepare for Mayorga hard. He was knocked out by all the top fighters, but he always comes back the same, ready for war.

Mayorga has a very akward style and is very tough.. You can bet that he is gonna give Angulo problems! Whether Angulo is able to over come those problems? Well, we'll just have to wait and find out!
I haven't made a prediction on this yet.

Of course it's possible, but in a way I doubt Mayorga does more than win maybe one or two rounds before eventually getting beat down into submission. It's one thing to go 12 ugly rounds with another old fighter. It's a whole nother thing to beat a young fighter. Mayorga is experienced, but he's not Hopkins, Mosley or Barrera type experienced (meaning he hasn't gotten craftier with age).
Mayorga will give anyone trouble because he is an awkward fighter. I mean the guy brings a bar fight to the ring. And a solid puncher. So he still has a punchers chance.
Problem is, ATM he has a questionable jaw and he needs to stop being so over confident. He had Mosley, and then Mosley had his Jaw.
I'll say it right now. If Mayorga comes in halfway decent shape, he gets rid of Angulo within 8. And no offense to Angulo, I like the kid. But no way should he be taking this big a step.
While Mayorga has been knocked out by every future Hall of Famer he has faced, he eats up the less skilled guys. I think Mayorga has a good chance to KO Agullo.

Mayorga is an experienced vet.....he's certain to give a stiff test to this young man with so few pro fights under his belt. I've seen him fight and he's a great talent but I don't think he can afford to sleep on Mayorga for even one minute.
