After becoming a boxing fan only in recent years, I think it's hard to grasp how great historical boxing moments are without being around in the present time for them. For example, Paquiao beating De La Hoya probably won't go down in history and won't be remembered for the upset it was. There were many people saying the fight should not even be aloud to happen, Yet Paquiao layed a whoopin to him.
My question now, is what was the public's opinion of Roy Jones moving up to Heavyweight before he fought Ruiz? Was he expected to win a UD? Did people he was stupid for moving up to Heavyweight? What did people think at the time?
I never doubted for a second RJ would own Ruiz. It shouldn't have really been considered an upset, but it was historical cuz of how many divisions RJ stepped up to get to a HW belt. Most expected him to win it.
