Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a great fighter and he has a good resume.
He also was arguably the best fighter in most of the divisions he fought in but I see it posted a lot on here that he ruled every single division he was in or he dominated every division he was in except 154.
I don't agree.
He was certainly the best in those divisions and at super featherweight and lightweight he certainly beat the next best fighter in the division but did he really dominate and clean out any division?
Did he even clean out 130 and 135 let alone any division above that?
he beat some of the top fighters in those divisions but he never intended to dominate the 140 or 154 divisions. He just wanted to get a fight with DLH and his whole career was built towards that. He vowed to avenge his uncles loss to dlh ever since he became pro. I think he would have focused his career more on the 130 and 135 divisions had he not had a goal of fighting dlh.
Floyd was the man at 130 and 135.
Oscar was never the man in any division, maybe 154 briefly when he beat Vargas and even that's debateable.
oscar could have been the man at 147 but we all now he tried to end the tito fight.
shame. that could have been his most defining victory.
I think the most impressive thing about floyd's accomplishments is the ease of which he has beaten most fighters.
Problem is that when you look at his resume his best wins are against oscar and hatton, and oscar was past his prime. Hatton is not on the level of a prime mosley or prime de la hoya, he is flawed. I think most people would agree that floyd has never fought a truly great fighter in his prime with little weaknesses, no matter what weight division it was in he has not faced a fighter like I describe. He still has time though and hopefully he wil do this otherwise I think he'l leave a legacy of what if's? Similar to roy jones, although in my opinion floyd is not that good
FLoyd had 2 good titles and Oscar 3(Altought 2 were robbeires)
Floyd- Hernandez at 130, Castillo at 135
Oscar. Whitaker at 147, Vargas at 154, Sturm at 160
The thing I was trying to say is that Floyd didnt fought the best comp he could. But I admit that he dominated everybody he fought, except for maybe castillo, but somebody will give you a tough fight sometime so!!!!!!!!
Sturm at 160 is a "good" title? Well in that case so is Gatti for Floyd at 140. And Zab/Baldomir at 147.
Same as Mayweather. Hes titles at 140, 147 and 154 were paper titles. the thing is Oscar fought better comp, than Mayweather and thats a fact!!!!!
So which titles did Oscar win that weren't paper?
I'd say Whitaker and, quite frankly, that wasn't much of a "win."
I do, however, agree that Mayweather's belts above 135 were just as paper. But it's a question of when, not who and Floyd surpasses Oscar there. Not to mention he didn't lose almost all his big fights.
Resume- people you fought.
Accomplishment- people you beated, their records, how you beat them, the titles as take and in what conditions!!!!!!
Oscar>>>>>>>>Floyd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Resume equals people you BEAT. You don't list jobs you ALMOST got on there. You list your ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Ridiculous...
Ruelas was a top LW, in fact DLH was a Huge underdog against him, and Paez was top 5 LightWeight at the time. the fact that I know this is because Im a boxing fan not a one fighter nuthugger.
I love how you twisted things. You ask who he beat for his titles and , not who was the best in the division. Again i gave you the list of top fighters he fought in the repective divisions. and who he beated for his title. he fought 10x times way better comp that Mauweather and thats a fact!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all, oscar De La Hoya never fought Gabriel Ruelas. He fought his brother, Rafael. Second, Oscar was not an underdog. Third, Ruelas was not considered the world's best LW.
Paez a top five lightweight at the time? Prove it.
BTW, the world's best lightweight at the time was Orzubek Nazarov, a staple of the pound for pound rankings for many years.
The reason why I ask who he beat for the titles is because the majority of his belts were paper belts. Meaning, he beat a title-holder and NOT the best in the division. I think we've already settled that.
And while he did fight a bunch of names, he lost most to most of the prime ones, in spite of getting every advantage he could get each time.
This list proves that he fought the best in each division he fought. Something Mayweather didnt do.
130-Jimmy Breadallh WBO
135-Jorge Paez WBO, Gabriel Ruelas IBF (Unified champ at 135)
140- Julio Ceasar Chavez WBC
147. Pernell Whitaker WBC
154- Javier Castillejo WBC, Fernando Vargas WBA (Unified Champ)- Ricardo Mayorga WBC
160.Felix Sturm WBO
Jimmy Bredahl was not the best fighter at 130, or even close.
The fact that you even mention Jorge Paez shows you just got off that boxrec. Because if you knew what you were talking about, you wouldn't dare say he was among the best lightweights in the world at that time. Neither was Gabriel Ruelas who I had no idea Oscar even fought LMAO.
Chavez wasnt considered the best at 140 either.
I could go on but I think you get my point.
at 135 he could have fought casamoyer and freitas, but neither showed interest.
at 140, he could have fought Cotto, Hatton, Zoo, or harris. Cotto and Hatton wanted none of him. zoo lost to hatton and retired. Harris lost to Maussa.
at 147, he could have fought Cotto and mosley. margarito was a nobody, williams was to green as well as quintana, Berto. Collazo was unknown and damn near lost to hatton.
at 154, he could have fought Spinks, Karmazin, Mayorga, and man from Africa..I forget his name.
u can't blame him for 140 and Cotto at 147 would have happened if not for oscar wanting a rematch and trying to pull his penis out in negotiation which caused him to retire along with the criticism and hatred of the media and so-called pundits. at 154, he is too small...but for the guape he can go up there and get a W
He still fought the best. Something Mayweather can say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What type of bullsh*t is this? Man, he lost about half the fights you listed. And you never mentioned who he won his titles againsts. What you think this list is supposed to prove? GTFOH
Let's start at 130......
He beat Genaro Hernandez for his 130 belt in 1998. He was 130 champion from 1998-2002.
In those 4 years or so he only fought 2 top ranked super featherweights.
Genaro when he beat him for the title and Diego Corrales who was ranked #2 behind him and in some years ranked #1 above him.
For a couple of years there Joel Casamayor and Acelino Freitas was ranked right there behind Floyd Mayweather and obviously fights with those 2 were never made.
Would you consider Floyd's run at 130 dominant or considered it cleaning out the division?
casamoyer and freitas was at 135 when he took the belt from Castillo. also carlos hernandez was top 10 ranked at 130 along with angel manfredy, jesus chavez
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a great fighter and he has a good resume.

he cleaned out 130, but u don't have to clean out a division to dominate. in every weight class he has been, he became the best fighter in the division. 135 beat the man twice and koed an undefeated Ndou who was knocking everyone out at the time. 140, destroyed Gatti and all the other top fighters ran scared, 147 became the lineal ww champ. now u can say he didn't dominate 147, but he clearly was the best there.
Tua, i've said it before you are the only Floyd critisizer that i like on this forum. Your arguments arent just based on 'he's overrated, ducked everyone' bullshit that goes on in this forum.
And on the topic, Floyd fought his best game at S.Feather and Lightweight. He didnt really clean out any weight class as he constantly was moving up different weight classes.
I was watching the HBO Countdown of Mayweather-Gatti and the predictions were, either Floyd wins by UD or gets stopped by a Gatti bodyshot. Dan Rafael thought that Gatti would KO Floyd if Floyd didnt win by UD. Floyd destroyed Gatti.
These guys that go on how bad a fighter Floyd is proberly havent watched any of his fights... I'm being serious people on here need to stop writing bullshit posts if it has no intelligence behind it.
Take a leaf out of Tua's book...
Oscar Won titles in 6 divsions and he fought the best in each division, or atleast people that were rank high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Who did he beat for his titles?
2. What happened when he fought the best?
another biased dipshit.
how come hatton DUCKED floyd at 140 after the gatti fight saying he needed more "experience"
DUCK
keep dreaming wee man!! LMFAO!!!!! i guess thats why hatton chose to fight him at 147 instead?
knowing pbf he probably ducked hatton at 140!!
mayweather aint got the balls to face hatton at 140!!
why was mayweather crying after he ko`d hatton?
see when people say this i don't get it
when has anyone ever overrated his resume??? no one ever claimed it was an Ali or Robinson-esque resume - no one
but it is a good resume and he has proved himself to be a great fighter
if anything his resume is underrated by the majority... it's not bad in any way, shape or form
he claims to be the greatest but cant back it up.
