I want to pose a question in light of the allegations
surrounding Margarito's wraps. Personally I will call them that until someone actually comes out with the analysis of the sample taken from the wraps. So if it comes to be that the sample is in fact illegal than obviously the question than is did he use these in the past (Cotto fight in particular) Which scenario would you prefer:
#1 Margarito beat Cotto fair and square no illegal wraps and it was actually Margaritos night and give him the credit due?
#2 Or what if they admitted to using illegal wraps in that fight and Cotto is vindicated and his 0 wiped from the slate?
Obviously keeping in mind that if illegal hand wraps were used during the fight that Cotto may have suffered irreparable damage in that fight.
I'd consider my self a Cotto fan and to be honest I would rather have had Margarito win a clean fight and give him credit than to think about that fight being dirty, and one fighter having to suffer for another fighter's selfishness.
I'd like to hear some opinions on this.
seems to me that something was not right with the way cotto look, he could not get that kind of punisment with naked gloves. i believe honesly that Margo use the same plaster he try to ues with Mosley.
I'd rather have Margarito of won a clean fight..
it's a shame if he used illegal wraps against Cotto.
taken that 0 away isn't gonna take away the damage done.
It's just like champboxpr said unless they admit prior use, there's no proof of Margarito having used "plaster" handwraps for the cotto fight or any other fight. But if the boxing comission find it illegal then we'll all have reason to believe beyond a reasonable doubt that this was indeed a common practice within the Margarito camp. And everyone can draw their own conclusion.
True, hopefully they'll release their analysis of the substance soon.

I believe Marg won that fight fair and square, and my opinion on that won't change til it's disproved. I'd obviously rather it be that way than for Cotto to have the loss changed to a NC and have him be damaged. But since I happen to be a fan of both Cotto and Marg, maybe this thread don't pertain to me.
Input appreciated and the thread title is probably a bit narrow minded on my behalf.
This subject pertains to all boxing fans.
Theres a very slim chance to prove he did it against Cotto, unless he confesses. Its hard not to think he did, becaue if he tried, agains a fighter he should off murder, why not with Cotto, that it was his biggest fight, plus the fact that he was the underdog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your right, slim chance of proving anything.
Also agree that if in fact he attempted this with Mosely, who and whats to say that he wouldn't have in the Cotto fight.
But like I said I wouldn't mind a loss on his record as I would have a problem with
seeing a different Cotto beacause of the possible hand wrap situation.
What do you think?

That's exactly what I have been thinking. We'll see what happens. I hope Cotto didn't take any permanent damage. He didn't get knocked out really but he was definitely hurt when his corner threw in the towel. I hope if he DID use them, that the truth comes and Cotto does lose that loss from his record. But who knows if that will ever happen.
